Are you new here? Want to know our Library opening hours? We've got your back 24/7 just swipe your Bodcard on our front door. The Library is for Teddy Hall members only, so you should always be able to find a seat, and if it gets cold in the middle of the night we even have fluffy blankets for you to snuggle up in!

Staff are available Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. But if you have any questions outside of that time, just drop us an email: [email protected]

Our Old Library will be open on Monday 28 September, 2-5pm!

We are very excited to take part in a multi-College exhibition trail around Oxford, so why not spend Monday afternoon dropping in to beautiful historic spaces and taking a look at collections that you might not expect a library to hold...

The self-guided walking tour is completely free and is sponsored by the Oxford Bibliographical Society. You can visit as many or as few of the participating Colleges as you have time for. An introductory set of short talks will take place at Lincoln College at 2pm, but information can also be found on the event website - https://hiddenstrengths.wixsite.com/home

On my desk today... is this little fluff ball. An 18th Century printer's mark on the title page of this book shows an elongated Fox standing in front of the recognisable skyline of Bologna including the famous medieval two towers. It served as the mark of bookseller and printer publisher Lelio dalla Volpe - a playful pun on his own name 'Volpe', which is Italian for Fox 🦊

Is still a thing?

St Peter-in-the-East parish church became the St Edmund Hall Library in 1970. Many of the building’s distinctive architectural features were preserved in the renovation process and the new internal fixtures were arranged to mimic the layout of a traditional church. Here is a side by side comparison showing the nave in both the late 1960's and how it looks today.

We are so lucky to use such a beautiful piece of Oxfordshire's history as a space for our work and study.
