Oxford Brookes Social Entrepreneur Awards - OBSEA We find, fund, support and develop existing and potential social entrepreneurs whether staff, students or recent graduates of Oxford Brookes University.

If you are passionate about a social issue and would like to put the knowledge and skills that you are gaining at Oxford Brookes into action to make the world we live in a better one, then apply for the Oxford Brookes Social Entrepreneur Awards. We’re looking to create tomorrow’s changemakers and leaders. Our vision is to provide an exceptional, student-centred experience - one where students are proactively engaged - driving their own development and interests. To help deliver this strategic goal we’ve created an innovative vehicle with wide appeal across the whole university – a unique experience involving students, recent graduates and staff learning as equal participants, whilst helping to build a stronger and more inclusive society. A social enterprise is a venture that is set up to trade for a social and/or environmental purpose. It will have a clear sense of its ‘social mission’: which means it will know what difference it is trying to make, who it aims to help, how it plans to do it and how it will operate in a sustainable way. We provide a programme of support and development to equip people to become Social Entrepreneurs. Funding comes in the form of Awards to help people set up social enterprises. Social entrepreneurs also receive mentoring to further develop their enterprises from people with experience in this sector.

Oxford Brookes was recently recognised for its outstanding work in supporting and developing social enterprise, and social enterprise education, by winning two national awards at the annual SEE Change Social Entrepreneurship Conference http://www.brookes.ac.uk/about-brookes/news/national-awards-for-oxford-brookes--social-entrepreneurship-and-innovation-programme/ 🏆

The Global Challenge is a chance for participants to learn more about the issues they care about and present their findings to the world. After heats across 23 Institutions in 7 countries, 14 teams now travel to Oxford to present at The Global Challenge Final 2017. You can come and support the Oxford Brookes University team !

The Skoll Centre welcomes you to join them for the final round, where our top 6 teams will present their findings for their chance to win one of our top 3 prizes, including up to £3000 and tickets to The Skoll World Forum.
