We had a blooming wonderful time at Kew Gardens last Tuesday! Colours everywhere and so much to explore. The children especially loved ‘the hive’ - an amazing sculpture that recreates the life inside a beehive. 🐝
God has given us so much beauty to enjoy 🌷 🌳 🌱 🌸

Situated just outside the Oxford Ring Road, close to the Oxford Science Park, Emmanuel Christian School is a small, co-educational independent school, founded over 30 years ago. The vision of the founding parents continues today: to provide a thoughtful, deep education which develops children in heart, mind, soul and strength. The curriculum is innovative and traditional, thoughtfully reflecting o
If your child is beginning their school journey, our early years department at ECS is a wonderful place to start. Our Little Acorns (‘nursery’) and Acorns (‘reception’) put down deep roots and develop a creative curiosity in their learning together.
Four mornings in our nursery equates to 15 hours of early childcare funding. Get in touch with Mr Guy in the office if you would like to learn more about what our early years department could offer to your family. We’d love to meet you!
In Friday Afternoon Fun, the children had a great time creating a giant colour wheel in the playground using anything and everything colourful, from inside and outside the classrooms!
It was a big team effort to make it - and then tidy it all away! (Can you believe how quick they were? 🙃)
We love our colour topic!
Our colour topic has led us into some wonderful explorations of how different artists used colour. The abstract artist Kandinsky was fascinated by how colour could portray emotions. His most famous ‘Squares with Concentric Circles’ was originally just a colour study, experimenting with complementary colours.
The children in KS2 enjoyed creating their own ‘colour study’ using chalk and oil pastels. 🎨

Year 3 and 4 had fun creating sample sticks of our many different coloured threads. We used the Pantone colour system to match each of them to a number, and then put them in order.
Once or twice, two different colours were given the same number, which shows we all see colour a bit differently! 🎨🧵

also marked 100 days of learning this year at Emmanuel. The children celebrated by bringing in 100 of something - paperclips, lego heads, football cards, cheerios, book pages and millilitres of water! Happy 💯 days to all at ECS!

What a we’ve had! Amazing costumes, and fabulous day celebrating books. Year 1 and 2 enjoyed meeting the wonderful on a webinar who shared a bit about her writing process before taking the children through illustrating a character step by step.
Special thanks to all our amazing parents for some super costumes!
We had a confused visitor today. Monkey (from Bunny vs Monkey) came in thinking it was World Book Day and seemed very excited. Mrs Nesbitt had to explain that it’s NEXT Thursday, but she did also give him ideas for a costume next week. Our theme this year is books set at sea. 🌊 🛶
See you next week Monkey!
