Louis’ Nursery have just been round to deliver this very special Mother’s Day card from my gorgeous little man♥️ Such a wonderful boost and has brought a huge smile to my face on what has been such a gloomy week of conjunctivitis, an ear infection, high temp, cough and cold which has resulted in isolation! His immune system has been truly smashed but you have been so brave and we are hoping these antibiotics will kick in very soon and I will have my happy, funny and cheeky little monkey back in time for Sunday 🧡☀️🙌🏼🧡☀️

☀️ Sunshine and lambs 🐑
Did you know 💡🐑
The plural form of lamb is lambs or lamber. 😄
The farm came to us today with the sweetest lambs, the children got to bottle feed them 🍼
How cute are they ? 🥺🥰
Is it just me or does this farm life just appeal ? 🐷🐓🐖🐑

We are literally learning another language - 👐🏻
Except it’s not using words 🤭… it’s using our fingers, hands and arm movement. 😄👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻👋🏻
I can’t explain how little I knew about sign language before meeting Richard.
I have always watched the small screen at the bottom of the TV when sports / politics or news is on and been amazed at how fast the peoples hands move.
So have you right ? 🤔👀😜 amazing everytime !
Watching and seeing the intense concentration of the children during our weekly lessons has been incredible. They are so super smart at remembering the signs.
I have seen the HUMONGOUS benefits of learning to sign, as well as memory skills and testing their higher abstract and creative thinking. 💭
To : Teacher Richard
Thank you for helping us learn to sign. 👏🏻We appreciate you ! 💜
Well hello .. what may this be 🤔💭
Have you got green fingers ?
🪴 🌱 💚🖐🏻 I’m asking for your help 🙋🏼♀️ 🌿🥕🍅

A day of pancakes ! 😋🤪😜😛😝 Shrove Tuesday 🥞
Shrove meaning : “The word shrove is a form of the English word shrive, which means to obtain absolution for one's sins by way of Confession and doing penance. Thus Shrove Tuesday was named after the custom of Christians to be "shriven" before the start of Lent.”
I made this moon sand for us to play, being together is my best time of day 💗

Chocolate egg? Dinosaur egg? This has got all the children talking, thinking and wondering … 🤔
We are going to be introducing the curiousity cube approach this week 💚
This is a new concept for Roots, the idea is to change the contents possibly weekly as well as by the end of the week sharing and linking up the contents with visuals, books and a chat to extend learning and ideas.
The purpose of the cube is to encourage natural curiousity about a focused object, spark interest, child lead, communication, developing ability to ask questions, sharing experiences and promoting learning about something they have possibly not seen before !
Objects will be random at times 😁 !
Please if you have any ideas do share!
It's going to be fun 🤩
Keep an eye out for what is in this weeks cube 👀
The how to… guide 🍇🍅
Say hello to our new “ chat zone “ 2022 🌹 Our office is almost ready for many cups of tea 🫖 and conversations with our amazing parents 💕 WOWsers we love it 💐 what do you think ?
The children are fascinated this morning by the workmen who are cutting the hedge. One of them come over to explain what it is they are doing and what happens with all the leaves and branches that have been cut. 🌿🍂🍁They were told that they are broken down in the green machine and blown out the top so that hedgehog and mice can use them to make their homes!!! 🍂🍁🦔🐭💛
I’m feeling gooooood 🤩🐄🥛🥤MILKSHAKE day today ! 🐄🥛 We had the BEST DAY. We learnt about where we get milk from and the process of how it gets to the shops 🥛🤩🥤 We also had a treat day where we all got to have a milkshake straw and make a milkshake to take home 😁

A sensory Christmas tree 🎄
Have some fun with your little ones by decorating your very own playdough Christmas tree with a range of colourful textured beads and green playdough!
Thank you Creation Space for this Christmas craft idea 🤩
A festive keepsake to cherish and display every year 🎅
You will need:
⭐️1 1/4 cups of baking soda
⭐️3/4 cup of cornstarch
⭐️3/4 cup of water
⭐️parchment or wax paper
⭐️rolling pin or flat object such as a plate
🎅To make the clay, simply place the ingredients in a pot and heat on medium while stirring constantly. Before long the mixture will begin to thicken and come together in a mass. You'll know it's done when it resembles whipped mashed potatoes. It begins to get too dry very quickly, so take it off of the heat as soon as you see that mashed-potato texture.
🎅Remove the clay from the pot and place it in a bowl covered with a damp cloth to cool. Ten to 15 minutes should be plenty.
🎅Now to make the handprint ornament! First, lay down the wax paper and create a circle of clay that is about 1 centimetre thick and large enough to fit your child's hand. You can do this using a rolling pin, but I like the natural edges that occur when a ball of clay is flattened with a flat object such as a plate.
🎅Next, help your child centre their hand on the clay circle and press it down firmly.
🎅 Use a straw to create the two holes that will later be used for hanging the ornament — just be sure to not put them too close to the edges! Then it's time to let your keepsake dry for a couple days.
🎅Once dry, brush the glue onto a section of the ornament, sprinkle on some glitter, shake off the excess, and continue the process until the whole ornament except the handprint is covered in glitter.
🎅It's not a necessary step, but when the keepsake is fully dry, you can spray it with a clear sealant. Doing so will ensure that the glitter lasts for years to come.
🎅Thread your ribbon through the holes and tie the ends together, and your creation is ready to be admired!
This recipe will make 2 or 3 handprint keepsakes, depending on the size of your little ones' hands of course.
Be sure to share a picture of your ornament with us!

CREATE YOUR VERY OWN CHRISTMAS PUPPETS 🎄🎅
You will need:
✨2 jumbo ice cream sticks
✨1 white cupcake liner
✨1 small white pom pom
✨2 small red pom pom
✨brown pipe cleaners
✨4 googly eyes
TO MAKE THE SANTA PUPPET
🎅Cut 1/3 off the top of your white cupcake liner
🎅Cut a triangle out of your red cardboard
🎅Glue your cupcake liner in the middle of your red triangle.
🎅Cut a small circle and a thin strip from your white cardboard paper. Cut the circle in half
🎅Glue on all the finishing features to your Santa: A white pom at the top of the hat, the white strip for the brim of the hat, googly eyes, the two half circles for a mustache and your small red pom for the nose
🎅Cover your jumbo craft stick half way down with glue and then attach your Santa to it. Let it dry completely before playing with it
TO MAKE THE REINDEER PUPPET
🦌Cut a triangle out of your brown cardboard. Also cut out two small ears
🦌Glue the ear onto the side of the reindeer face (triangle pointing down)
🦌Cover your jumbo craft stick half way down with tacky glue and glue on your triangle with the point at the bottom
🦌Use your tacky glue to glue on your two googly eyes, and your red pom nose
🦌Cut your brown pipe cleaner stem in half, then those two pieces in half again. Cut two of those sections in half one more time. You will end up with 6 pieces. Twist two of the small pieces around one of the bigger pieces one time and then point the ends upwards to make antlers. Do the same with the other pieces
🦌Use a generous amount of glue to glue your antlers to the back of your reindeer. Let your puppet dry completely before playing with it
Thank you to I Heart Crafty Things for this awesome idea 🤩
Did you know Santa Claus 🎅 used to dress up in green 💚 blue 💙 and even purple 💜?
You will now see him dressed in red and white, and that is all thanks to Coca Cola who asked him to dress in these colours in 1930.
I guess he decided red was his favourite colour after that day! 🎄
