Dans cette série de trois séminaires intitulée « Voix féminines du désert : une exploration littéraire et culturelle », nous voyagerons à travers les dunes, les oasis et les récits pour découvrir comment le désert inspire la mémoire, l’identité, la résistance et la créativité. À travers la littérature et la culture, nous explorerons les expériences des femmes au Sahara, le pouvoir de la narration et le riche patrimoine culturel d’une région souvent réduite à des mythes et des stéréotypes.

Step into the captivating world of the desert through the eyes of Francophone women writers from North Africa.

In this 3-seminar series, Female Voices of the Desert: A Literary and Cultural Exploration, we will journey across dunes, oases, and stories to discover how the desert inspires memory, identity, resistance, and creativity. Through literature and culture, we will explore women's experiences of the Sahara, the power of storytelling, and the rich cultural heritage of a region often reduced to myth and stereotype.

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️Let’s celebrate Pride Month ! Do you know about France’s LGBTQ+ recent history and its fight against homophobia? Here is a short summary of key dates to help you understand it more!

1981: France removes homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses.

1982: End of the discrimination that set the age of sexual consent at 15 for heterosexuals and 21 for homosexuals

1999: The Civil Solidarity Pact (PaCS) is passed. This marks the first legal option for same-sex unions in France.

2010: ‘Transsexualism’ is removed from the list of psychiatric conditions. France is a pioneer in this regard.

2013: The law authorising same-sex marriage and adoption

2016: Simplification of procedures for changing first names and gender on civil status records

Authorisation for homosexuals to give blood (but still restricted)

2021: The Bioethics Act extends assisted reproductive technology (ART) to female couples and single women

2022: Ban on ‘conversion therapy’ in France

🏖🐠Des algues et du plancton : conférence scientifique avec Vincent Doumeizel

Les Alliances Françaises UK vous propose une conférence en ligne gratuite en français sur un thème scientifique et à cette occasion nous sommes ravies d'accueillir Vincent Doumeizel, Conseiller Océans aux Nations Unies où il dirige la première coalition mondiale dédiée aux algues. Optimiste et engagé, Vincent développe et encourage depuis des années les solutions alimentaires et climatiques fondées sur l’océan, notamment les algues et le plancton.

Auteur de La révolution des algues (Équateurs, 2022), traduit en plusieurs langues et adapté en BD, il a publié en 2025 Le manifeste du plancton, issu d’un projet mené à l’ONU avec les meilleur.es spécialistes du sujet et qui sera publié en mai 2026 sous le nom de The Power of Plankton, Legend times, au Royaume Uni.

🏖🐠Seaweed and Plankton: a scientific lecture with Vincent Doumeizel

The Alliances Françaises UK is offering a free online lecture in French on a scientific topic, and on this occasion we are delighted to welcome Vincent Doumeizel, Ocean Advisor to the United Nations, where he leads the world’s first coalition dedicated to algae. An optimist and committed advocate, Vincent has for years been developing and promoting ocean-based food and climate solutions, particularly algae and plankton.

Author of "La révolution des algues" (Équateurs, 2022), translated into several anguages and adapted into a comic book, he published "Le manifeste du plancton" in 2025, the result of a project led at the UN with leading experts in the field, which will be published in May 2026 under the title "The Power of Plankton", Legend Times, in the UK.
