De-escalation isn’t just a workplace skill, it’s a life skill. 🤝
Every day, we face situations that can either escalate or be brought under control.
The difference?
How we communicate. How we listen. How we manage our emotions.
✔ Staying calm instead of reacting
✔ Understanding before responding
✔ Choosing solutions over confrontation
These are the skills that lead to safer outcomes, stronger relationships, and better decisions - at work and in everyday life.
Because in the moment that matters most, it’s not about being right… it’s about keeping control.

What is Conflict Management and Who Benefits from It?
Conflict management is the ability to handle disagreements calmly, constructively, and professionally.
In any workplace, differences in opinion are inevitable. The key isn’t avoiding conflict - it’s knowing how to manage it in a way that leads to better outcomes, not bigger problems.
Real workplace impact
A disagreement between colleagues is resolved early - before it affects team morale
A frustrated customer is handled professionally - turning a complaint into a positive experience
Managers address issues confidently - reducing escalation and absence
Conflict isn’t the problem - poorly managed conflict is.
With the right skills, conflict becomes an opportunity to improve communication, strengthen relationships, and build a more resilient workplace.
At Aphis Training & Services, we focus on practical conflict management techniques that people can actually use - every day, in real situations.

At Aphis Training & Services, we focus on practical, real-world training that helps teams respond confidently - not just compliantly.

We’ve shared an important update from Aphis Security that reflects a key shift in UK counter terrorism guidance.
The move from “Run, Hide, Tell” to “Guide, Shelter, Report” places greater emphasis on awareness, leadership, and coordinated response, especially for those responsible for the safety of others.
From a training perspective, this reinforces something we see every day:
👉 The right knowledge and preparation can make a critical difference in high-pressure situations.
Our courses are designed to go beyond theory - equipping individuals and teams with the practical skills, confidence, and decision-making ability needed to respond effectively when it matters most.
If your role involves public safety, security, or duty of care responsibilities, it’s worth ensuring your training reflects the latest guidance.
💬 Guidance evolves. Training should too.
The UK’s counter terrorism advice has evolved, and it matters for how we keep people safe.
You may be familiar with “Run, Hide, Tell”, but this has now been updated to “Guide, Shelter, Report.”
So what’s changed?
➡️ Guide - If it’s safe to do so, help direct people away from danger. Clear leadership can reduce panic and improve safe evacuation.
➡️ Shelter - Find and secure a safe place. Lock, block, and stay out of sight.
➡️ Report - Call 999 when safe, providing clear and accurate information to emergency services.
This shift reflects a more proactive, people-focused approach — particularly relevant for trained staff, stewards, and security teams who may be in a position to support others during an incident.
At Aphis Security, we continuously review our procedures to align with current national guidance - ensuring our teams are prepared, informed, and ready to respond calmly and effectively.
💬 Safety guidance evolves. So do we.

🚑 What is Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) — and who actually needs it?
Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) is a one-day UK qualification that trains staff to deal with a range of conditions, from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies like cardiac arrest, choking, severe bleeding and shock — until paramedics arrive.
According to guidance from the Health and Safety Executive, every employer must assess their first aid needs and provide appropriate cover. For many low-risk environments, EFAW is the minimum requirement.
You’ll usually find EFAW in:
✅ Offices
✅ Retail & hospitality
✅ Schools & training centres
✅ Small businesses
✅ Community services
But it’s about more than ticking a legal box.
💙 Faster emergency response
💙 Safer workplace culture
💙 Reduced severity of incidents
💙 Real duty of care for staff and customers
Most importantly — first aiders save lives.
If you employ people, you need a first aid needs assessment. EFAW is often the first (and most important) step.
