Worcester College Chapel

We're grateful to the parish of Tackley in north Oxfordshire for the invitation to sing a concert in their beautiful medieval church at the end of term.
The choir will be presenting choral favourites that make good use of the parish's wonderful new Walker organ, along with Gardens, our brand new series of commissions that tell the story of the Bible through seven musical gardens.

2nd Week:
This week’s new commission for the choir is Jaakko Mäntyjärvi’s ‘No longer so near’, again part of Wednesday’s Compline at 9pm - though don’t miss Deborah Pritchard’s stunning ‘Heaven’s King’ at Saturday’s 6pm Evensong for the University Choral & Organ Scholarship Open Day!
On Sunday we welcome Revd Dr Oliver Wright back to Worcester, along with our choristers who will be singing this service.

The new term is here!
We start with College Evensong on Sunday at 6pm, the Chaplain preaching, and during the week we will hear the choir sing two of the new commissions that will be featured on the recording the choir are making at the end of term. Come on Wednesday or Saturday to hear those! More to follow!

Lots ahead of us this week before the Choristers head off to Florence for their Spring Tour.

We were wonderfully surprised to be visited in chapel by broadcasting legend David Dimbleby this week (seen in the photo with the chaplain after Thursday’s service). Why not surprise us and come along to one of 7th week’s services? From College Communion to Compline, Choral Evensong to the ‘Everyday Wonders’ concert, we’d love to see you!

6th Week Services.
Compline continues to be followed by hot chocolate & port (even in Lent!), and this Sunday at 6pm we welcome Revd Mark Hay from St Clement’s in Oxford to preach.
The musical highlight of the week comes on Thursday: this term’s Playlist service (half an hour of uninterrupted choral music) includes Mäntyjärvi, Byrd, Arnesen, Tavener, Brahms, Harris & Gjeilo. Unmissable.

5th Week.
We begin with our annual LGBT+ History Month Service on Sunday at 6pm, with Hope Lawrence, a trustee of Inclusive Church, as our preacher.
Also this week: on Shrove Tuesday, we welcome our friends from the University Catholic Chaplaincy for their termly Mass in chapel; afterwards we invite everyone to stay for pancakes in the Memorial Room.
And our Ash Wednesday Compline features some beautiful music by Byrd, as well as offering opportunity to receive ashes.
