📵 Student Reset 🌿☀️
Sometimes the best lessons happen beyond the classroom. 💭✨
What started as role-play and improvisation activities with our E3B students, exploring smartphone use, communication, and how it feels when someone is distracted by their phone while you’re trying to connect, quickly evolved into honest conversations, humour, reflection… and lots of laughter. 💚
With such a positive atmosphere, we took the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine together at Florence Park on Thursday 🌳☀️ a chance to pause, reset, connect with each other, and appreciate the simple value of being present.
These moments are a reminder that learning isn’t just about textbooks, it’s also about communication, confidence, wellbeing, friendship, and real-life connection. 🤝✨
At EMBS, we create spaces where students can learn, grow, and thrive, both inside and outside the classroom 💫

A Day at Parliament 🇬🇧✨
Our students had an incredible opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament, thanks to an invitation from Anneliese Dodds, the Member of Parliament for Oxford East and a senior Labour politician who has held key roles including Chair of the Labour Party and Shadow Chancellor.
We were given a guided tour through some of the most iconic and historic parts of the building, including Westminster Hall, the oldest part of Parliament, rich in history and significance. From royal ceremonies to historic trials, the space truly brought British history to life.
We also visited the Committee Rooms in the House of Commons, where MPs examine policies and debate important issues that shape our country.
A highlight of the day was a Q&A session with Anneliese Dodds, where our students confidently asked thoughtful and relevant questions:
💬 Brosk Saadi raised concerns about congestion charges in Oxford and how they impact local communities
💬 Students also asked about asylum and immigration issues affecting young people today
Our students were amazed by the beauty of the buildings and left feeling inspired, seeing first-hand where decisions are made and how their voices can be heard.
👏 A fantastic trip that brought politics, history, and real-world issues together!

🎬✨ A Day at Mansfield College, Oxford ✨🎬
Today, our students from EMBS Community College stepped into a real-life movie scene as we visited Mansfield College, Oxford, part of the world-renowned University of Oxford 🎓
From exploring the stunning Chapel, historic library, and the iconic Old Hall… to walking the same halls as generations of students before them, it truly felt like something out of an old-school film 🎥🍂
A real highlight of the day was meeting Kate Clanchy, who led an inspiring Q&A session on creative writing, poetry, and student life at Oxford.
Our students asked thoughtful questions about university life, accessibility, and pathways into higher education and left feeling informed and motivated 🙌
We also learned about the Sanctuary Scholarship, supporting refugees with tuition fees and living costs, opening doors and creating opportunities 💫
💭 “once it felt impossible… today it felt within reach.” 🎓
“If you can see it, you can be it.”
An unforgettable day filled with inspiration, ambition, and new possibilities.

🌿 Staff Development in Action at EMBS 🌿
While our students enjoy their Easter break, our dedicated staff have been hard at work behind the scenes 💛
Today, over 40 staff from both our Oxford and Banbury campuses came together in Oxford for a powerful day of training, connection and growth.
Through a series of engaging workshops, staff explored four key archetypes that shape both personal and professional development:
👑 King – Responsibility
⚔️ Warrior – Discipline
🎨 Artist – Innovation
🤝 Carer – Empathy
Together, these qualities encourage self-reflection, growth and stronger relationships, helping us become even better educators and support systems for our students and wider community.
We also explored how blending these approaches in education can create more inclusive, balanced and impactful learning experiences for all.
To round off a fantastic day, staff enjoyed a delicious Nepalese lunch 🇳🇵 followed by a well-earned cinema trip to watch Sinners 🎬
✨ Tomorrow, we look forward to welcoming our staff to the Banbury campus for Day 2 of training, stay tuned to see what we get up to!
