Taekwon-Do ITF
In the ITF, the belt is not just a means of tying the waist, but a symbol of technical progress, personal growth, and the philosophical journey of a student from ignorance to skill and awareness.
The Philosophy and meaning of the belt colors in Taekwon-Do ITF are designed based on the growth cycle of a plant from seed to tree.
White
Symbolizing Innocence and Purity, Representing a new student who has no knowledge of Taekwon-Do
Yellow
Symbolizing the earth, where the Taekwon-Do seed is planted and roots grow to form the Foundation of Education.
Green
Symbolizing the sprout and growth of the plant, representing the development and advancement of the student's physical techniques and skills.
Blue
Symbolizing the Sky and Paradise, where the plant grows towards it and becomes a tall tree.
Red
Symbolizing Danger, warning the student to maintain control and reminding the opponent to step back.
Black
Unlike white, symbolizing Maturity, Complete Mastery of Taekwon-Do Art, and Immunity to Darkness and Fear.
The importance of the belt in Taekwon-Do ITF is as follows:
1. - Ranks in ITF are divided into two categories: Gup Color Grades from 10th Gup to 1dt Gup and Dan Grades from 1st Degree to 9th Degree), which determine the level of knowledge and experience of an individual.
2. - The ITF system, the belt is twisted and tied only once, Symbolizing commitment to a path, Loyalty, and Unity of Mind and Body.
3. - The Grading tests are a means of Evaluating the Student's Spiritual Endurance, Technical Ability, and Discipline throughout the learning journey.
