A warm welcome to our latest cohort of freshers! We're looking forward to showing them all around the best library in Oxford for their inductions on Monday and Tuesday. When it was discovered that she was a girl, Annie Rogers had her scholarship offers withdrawn from Balliol and Worcester colleges, despite her top exam scores in 1873.

These four books were given as her consolation gift, and represent the kind of institutional 'erasure' that women students faced at Oxford before 1920.

📚🏖️ Get your books beach body ready!

One of the joys of working in a library is sharing the skills that help preserve books for future readers. Next week we're hosting a bookbinding workshop, where participants will learn techniques used to rebind and restore well-loved volumes.

We'll be sharing photos from the workshop afterwards, so keep an eye on this page to see the results!
