Year 9 had great fun with One Day Film School as part of Bonding Day. 📽️

The day started with some cinema history and being quizzed on industry job roles before learning some fight choreography. With job roles assigned, film crews set out on their first shoot with the 3-shot film challenge.

With their first film credits on their CV, pupils then had to plan, film and edit a 10-shot film to enter into the Headington School Oscars. There were some incredibly creative ideas on show, making it a tough decision for the judges.

BEST MOTION PICTURE (WINNER): While It Lasts
BEST PERFORMANCE: Whole Cast, Karma
BEST TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENT: Never Again

We are excited to welcome poet Suzannah V Evans to Headington School Oxford today as part of . Suzannah will be working with our pupils from all year groups on 'wonder in poetry' before we end the day with the House Poetry Slam.

Year 12 rose to the rollercoaster challenge during bonding day, building creative courses for their marble passengers. 🎢

The challenge involved planning and building a rollercoaster entirely from paper and tape (with some loop holes in the rules found). Teams also had to come up with a theme for the coasters and deliver a marketing presentation. One team even wrote a whole backstory for their pirate themed rollercoaster - complete with Shakespeare the shark!

While some marbles may have gone off the rails, the same can't be said of the teamwork - which was excellent throughout the challenge.

We are delighted to share that Headmistress Caroline Jordan has been nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award in the prestigious 2026 Tatler Schools Awards.

Caroline, who will retire as Headington School Oxford Headmistress at the end of the academic year, joined the School from St George’s Ascot in September 2011 and, by the time she leaves, she will have spent over a third of her life in Headship.

During her time at the School, Caroline led the School throughout a global pandemic, providing clear, strategic direction and ensuring every child continued to receive an excellent education and oversaw the successful merger with Rye St Antony in 2024, one of the most significant changes in the School’s over 100-year history.

🐎 Equestrian Success at Blenheim International Horse Trials!

Congratulations to Headington pupils Harriet, Year 10, and Flora, Year 12, on their fantastic performances at the Blenheim International Horse Trials, competing against Pony Club teams from across the country!

Harriet produced a clear round in the 90cm class, finishing just 0.7 seconds outside the optimum time to secure an impressive 15th place out of 142 starters!

Meanwhile, Lower Sixth student Flora competed in the 100cm class, helping her team achieve an excellent fourth place overall!

A fantastic achievement from both girls on the national stage. Well done! 👏

This week's bonding day was an inspiring opportunity for our pupils to connect, collaborate and challenge themselves in activities with the rest of their year group beyond the classroom.

Year 11 were exploring a wide range of career options from hotel inspecting, architecture and law, to dentistry, engineering and and even working in the Houses of Parliament.

Pupils that remained on site embraced their entrepreneurial spirit working in teams to create a business and plan a festival. Each member of the group took on a role including event manager, risk assessor, marketing, logistics planning and more.

The girls were given guidance from members of the school's marketing and operations teams, as well as members of staff with real world industry experience.

At the end of the day each group presented their ideas to Sarah Chenery, a former Marketing Director for brands including Pandora and Tiffany who provided invaluable feedback.

We’re so proud of the teamwork, leadership, and ambition shown by everyone involved.
