Yesterday afternoon, Julie Curtis, a Professor of Russian Literature at Oxford University spoke to Fifth Form students studying Chekhov's 'The Cherry Orchard' for their IGCSE World Literature module. 📚

George Groves, Segar's Fifth Form writes:

'We were very lucky to have Professor Julie Curtis, Oxford University, come speak to us about Chekhov and his play ‘The Cherry Orchard’.

This was very useful for us as we gained more background on Chekhov’s life and work, which will help us deepen our understanding of the play from our English lessons. Professor Curtis gave us real insight into Chekhov's motives for his creation of ‘The Cherry Orchard’ and his other works. She also helped us understand more about the key characters in the play; especially Mrs Ranevsky and Lopakhin.'
