About us:
The Story Hunters are artist duo Helen Jacobs and Lizzy McBain. With a background in sculpture and theatre arts, the pair of artists have a real passion for storytelling through both art and drama. We have extensive experience of working together in schools on numerous topic-based creative projects. Together we:
-understand curriculum requirements
- are able to work with all levels of learners
- have experience of working with Gifted and Talented, children who are struggling with literacy, and those with learning difficulties.
- work with teachers to plan and deliver projects
- enjoy bringing topics to life through “doing” and “making”.
..making learning a fun and memorable
experience that gives students a new and fresh approach to learning about any topic.
“You have had a profound effect on her; she has decided to study History at University
because of this project.” Student’s mother.
“Your workshop was invaluable to the
students...They were pleased with what could be achieved in a short time. Thank you; we’ll be in touch next year!” Miss Lee, EmanuelSchool, London. How we work
Below are three examples of possible schemes of work for you and your learners, combining art and drama as a way of exploring themes. We are flexible in our planning and can work to accommodate your needs. We work with up to 30 children at a time
without any additional support, but with teacher or TA participation we can work with bigger groups. Some of the themes we have covered previously:
The Victorians | Fairgrounds & the seaside
WWII| Evacuees & The Blitz
Creation Myths | Recycled Costumes
Greek Myths | Daedalus and Icarus
Let’s Perform! | Pantomimes & Fairytales
Alice in Wonderland | Local Folklore
Canals & Waterways | Wind in the Willows
Heritage inspired topics | such as glovemaking
The Seven Deadly Sins | Fables and Parables
English Folk Tales| Mummers Plays
& more...
