Singing Tuition and Performance I've been a professional singing teacher and performer for over 30 years!

After graduating from The Birmingham Conservatoire with a background in Classical singing, I went on to pursue a career in Rock and Pop, thus embracing my love of all styles of music and developing an adaptable vocal technique. Together with my husband Ian, I set up Timeless Studios, which has been used by many bands/soloists/actors over the years, to record just about every kind of music and spok

Make sure you wrap up warm when venturing outside. Breathing in the icy cold air, dries out and irritates the throat.

Lockdown again and I'm so grateful to be able to continue teaching remotely, as I have been doing since March. In that time, I've found out what works best teaching this way and how to create the very best learning experience for my pupils online. My pupils tell me that in times of such isolation and when so much music making has been put on hold, they really look forward to their lessons more than ever before. Together we can keep singing and raising our spirits.

I would like to wish all of my pupils a very Happy New Year! 2020 has been a particularly challenging years for us singers, so hopefully we can soon get back to making lots of music together in 2021. Meanwhile, remote lessons are going very well and term has begun again today. I look forward to seeing all of you over the course of this week.

The last half term of this academic year, is now well underway and I'm so pleased to find that my pupils have been doing lots of singing and practise, over the half term break. It's going to be a great half term. πŸ™‚

I'm pleased to report that remote singing lessons are going really well. It's great to be able to offer this service to students at a time when we are all having to sacrifice doing some of the things we love, to stay safe. It's required both myself and my students, having to adapt to slightly different teaching methods, but after a few weeks it is beginning to feel normal! There are in fact some positives to teaching this way. Lessons need to be more planned and structured and students have to take a more active role in preparing for their lessons, by making sure that they have sheet music, or lyrics and ideally can access backing tracks on another device. They also have to be more independent when singing, as all the platforms for remote communication, seem unable to support two people singing, or playing together. This is helping students to become much more focused and engaged throughout the whole lesson and ultimately, this is helping to build confidence in their own general musicianship and performance.

This video of Lina Vasta aged 90 singing one of my favourite arias from Puccini's Suor Angelica is amazing. It shows how with the right attitude to aging and continuing to work the singing voice, there is every reason to still sing beautifully in mature years. As a bonus, exercising the facial muscles have helped to keep this lady looking so youthful! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10156544536934260&id=6569469259
