Lucy Pinching - A reminder that at 5pm TODAY, there will be an informal screening of the award-winning 2008 documentary, 'Flow: For Love of Water', in the JCR TV room. It will be over by 6.30pm (more than enough time to get ready before Black Tie), and refreshments will be provided (including some home-baked cakes!) Be there!
"Irena Salina's award-winning documentary investigation into what experts label the most important political and environmental issue of the 21st Century - the world water crisis. Salina builds a case against the growing privatization of the world's dwindling fresh water supply with an unflinching focus on politics, pollution, human rights, and the emergence of a domineering world water cartel"

Lucy Pinching - A huge thank you to everyone who came along today- it was such a fantastic afternoon. Congratulations to Team 'C'- Oli Koo and Jeannette Smith- who won the cook-off with a delicious goat curry. Commiserations to Teams 'A' and 'B'- Emma Pearson and Sam Love, and Catherine Lusher and Julia Doyle), whose soup and risotto weren't far behind in the votes.
The whole event was a great testament to the quality of Oxford's local produce. Make sure that you check out the East Oxford Market up the Cowley Road on a Saturday morning (http://www.eastoxfordmarket.org.uk/), the Gloucester Green weekly market on a Wednesday (http://www.oxford.gov.uk/PageRender/decLP/GloucesterGreenMarket.htm), and the fantastic veg, meat and cheese sold in the Covered Market (which is currently under threat- sign the petition at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/save-the-covered-market/) If you want more details about buying locally, check out Merton's Green Guide, which is in the E&E section of the website!
We also sold a great amount of Fairtrade goods, thanks to the lovely people at St Michael's on Cornmarket St. (http://www.fairtradeatstmichaels.co.uk/), and all our loaves from Cornfield Bakery were a huge success. They'll be at the Gloucester Green Farmers' Market which is held on the first and third Thursday of every month if you'd like to try some (http://www.skettsfarmersmarkets.co.uk/). Their bread, and the other fantastic, local produce was sourced from The People's Supermarket, which you should really check out as they are doing an amazing job, and need your support.
