The next university admissions season is gathering pace, and our team is already working with ambitious applicants across the UK and around the world.
A strong personal statement should do more than list achievements. It should communicate genuine academic interest, intellectual potential and a clear sense of purpose.
For over 16 years, Getting In has supported students applying to Oxford, Cambridge, Russell Group universities and other leading institutions. Our experienced subject specialists assist with undergraduate, Master’s and PhD applications, as well as highly competitive courses including Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Law and Economics.
Every applicant has a different story to tell. Our role is to help present that story with clarity, confidence and distinction.
The application season is beginning. Give your personal statement the attention it deserves.

Your university application begins long before you press ‘submit’.
The students who make the greatest impression are often those who start preparing early. They take the time to explore their subject properly, reflect on what distinguishes them and build an application with depth, clarity and intellectual confidence.
Now is the ideal moment to begin.
At Getting In, we help ambitious students shape thoughtful, sophisticated applications that communicate who they are, what they have achieved and why they are ready for the next stage of their academic journey.
A successful application is not written in a single evening. It is developed, refined and strengthened over time.

The new UCAS personal statement format for 2026 entry represents one of the biggest changes to UK university admissions in years.
Instead of submitting one long freeform essay, students will now answer three separate questions focused on motivation for the course, academic preparation and experiences outside the classroom.
Although the structure may feel more guided, competitive university admissions are unlikely to become less demanding. Leading universities will still be looking for intellectual curiosity, academic engagement, reflection and evidence that students have explored their chosen subject beyond the school curriculum.
At Getting In, we work with ambitious applicants pursuing highly competitive courses and universities across the UK, including Oxbridge, Medicine, Law, Engineering and Economics.
The strongest applicants are rarely those with the longest list of achievements. More often, they are the students who can demonstrate genuine academic interest, thoughtful reflection and clarity of purpose.
As the university admissions process continues to evolve, students who prepare strategically and engage deeply with their subject will continue to place themselves in the strongest possible position.

We were recently quoted in Spear’s on the growing debate around AI in schools and university admissions.
As the government considers tighter regulation of AI chatbots for under 16s, families are rightly asking how these tools should be used in an academic context.
At Getting In, we are not against students using AI to brainstorm ideas or explore concepts. Used thoughtfully, it can support curiosity and independent research. However, it should never be used for any written submission. University applications must be entirely the student’s own work.
Elite institutions are looking for clarity of thought, intellectual maturity and authenticity. Admissions tutors can recognise artificial writing quickly, and more importantly, they value genuine insight over polished but impersonal prose.
AI can support learning. It must never replace original thinking.
