Very well done to our pupils who took part in the Oxfordshire Junior Restricted Badminton 2026 event this weekend. We were delighted to see such a large representation from MCS, with plenty to celebrate.

👏 Particular congratulations to: Rhys, 14U Boys' Singles Winner, 14U Boys' Doubles Runner-up and 14U Mixed Doubles Runner-up; Alfred, 18U Boys' Doubles Winner; Sophie, 18U Girls' Singles Winner and 18U Mixed Doubles Winner; and Rohan, who won all six of his events: 16U Boys' Singles, 16U Boys' Doubles, 16U Mixed Doubles, 18U Boys' Singles, 18U Boys' Doubles and 18U Mixed Doubles.

J2 had a fantastic trip to the Natural History Museum today, exploring the skeletons of giraffes, polar bears and marine mammals to support their science topic this term.
The pupils were amazed by the sheer size of some of the skeletons on display, while also discovering some surprising similarities between these very different creatures. A great opportunity to bring their science learning to life 🦴 🔎

Yesterday, we were pleased to welcome back Larry Zhang (OW 2024), to speak about his experience of applying to study Economics at Cambridge.⁣
⁣
Larry guided pupils through each stage of his application, from preparing in Year 12 through to the admissions assessment, interview and offer, sharing what he found most helpful along the way.⁣
⁣
Reflecting fondly on his time at MCS, Larry explained how his academic work, including his commended Waynflete Studies project, Assessing the US–China Trade War, supported his application. He also spoke about how the Senior School team helped him find the university that was right for him. ⁣

Yesterday, our Second Form pupils took part in a fun team-building exercise, working together to tackle a range of challenging puzzles.⁣
⁣
It was lovely to see pupils coming together from across the year group, with the session providing a particularly nice opportunity for those who are new to MCS to get to know their fellow pupils. Along the way, everyone practised communication, listening and leadership skills while having plenty of fun. 🧩

Welcome to MCS 🎓⁣

We are delighted to welcome the 547th cohort with our special Service of Welcome at Magdalen Chapel.⁣
⁣
This morning, our Junior School joiners were the first to make their way over Magdalen Bridge for the Service, with new starters in the Senior School and Sixth Form attending services later today.⁣
⁣
For many, this will be their first visit to the College from which MCS was born over half a millennium ago. But it certainly won’t be their last.⁣
⁣
When they leave us at the end of Upper Sixth, they will return through these ancient doors once more, shake hands with the Master, and begin the next chapter of their lives.⁣
⁣
For now, though, we are delighted to welcome them to the MCS family!🎉
