From shortlisted essay to London awards night!

Following her success in the John Locke Global Essay Prize, Sherine travelled to London to attend the Academic Conference and Senior Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner at Grosvenor House.

It was a chance to celebrate her achievement, meet other shortlisted students and spend time surrounded by new ideas and academic discussion.

A morning of music, conversation and connection at St Luke’s.

Our students gave up part of their weekend to join residents for a Coffee Morning, spending time chatting, sharing stories and enjoying plenty of laughter together.

Students also treated residents to live music, with piano performances creating a lovely atmosphere throughout the morning.

A simple but meaningful way to spend time together and make a difference in our local community.

Sherine has been shortlisted in the Economics category of the John Locke Institute 2026 Global Essay Prize, an international competition that encourages students to explore challenging questions through independent thinking, research and academic writing.

Her achievement has earned her an invitation to attend the Global Essay Prize Academic Conference and Senior Awards Ceremony in London.

Our Year 13 students are continuing to work closely with the GSP team, with many of our early applicants to Oxford, Cambridge, Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science now preparing to submit their applications.

Today, we reached an exciting milestone as Ken became our first student to send his application!

Ken is applying for Engineering, with a particular interest in Robotics, Mechatronics and Electronic & Electrical Engineering. His passion for the field extends well beyond the classroom: he has represented Thailand in an international robotics competition, coaches younger students and achieved an A* in his EPQ exploring humanoid robots in the hospitality industry.

This year, he is continuing to develop that experience through OIC’s Robotics elective, sharing his knowledge with his team as they begin designing their own robot.

An exciting next step for Ken and the beginning of a busy few weeks for our Year 13 applicants.

Adrian is now in his third year of a five-year Pharmacy degree at UCL, and it was lovely to hear how his journey has continued since leaving OIC.

Exploring university opportunities around the world 🌍

On Monday, OIC welcomed representatives from the University of Toronto, Savannah College of Art and Design, Universidad Francisco de Vitoria in Madrid and TETR College of Business.

Students had the chance to discover four very different university experiences, ask questions and learn more about courses, admissions and what studying in each country could look like.

We were also joined by Sheena and James from The University Guys, who shared their expertise in international university guidance.

A valuable opportunity for our students to look beyond borders and explore where their next steps could take them.
