Today our Islip class took inspiration from County Durham born artist and miner, Norman Cornish. His work frequently involved the lives and people of his local community and we loved exploring his work today. Students first practised sketching in black pen as Cornish would have done and then created their final pieces on toned pastel paper using a combination of charcoal pencils and soft pastels.
Brilliant work everyone!

We had a fabulously vibrant lesson today at Islip using watercolour pencils to create these playful portraits. Students learned about facial proportions and practised sketching first. Some chose to add a touch of water to their final drawings to blend their pencil marks and then added white gel pens or white conte pencils to create those all important highlights, bringing their pieces to life.
What some fabulous results everyone, really well done! 👏🏻 🎨🧑‍🎨
