💭Ruskin College’s new Political Quarterly Special Edition: Inequality and the Future of London, was launched at a parliamentary event hosted by Dr Rupa Huq MP recently, bringing the discussion on London's deep-rooted inequalities to the centre of political debate.

The launch comes at a significant political moment, as debates about devolution, regional growth and the UK's economic future intensify. While London is often viewed as the country's economic success story, the Special Edition argues that deep inequalities within the capital continue to affect millions of people and require far greater political attention.

Fifty years after James Callaghan's influential Ruskin College speech sparked the 'Great Education Debate', Ruskin College welcomed Secretary of State for Education Bridget Phillipson MP to set out her vision for the future of education.

In a speech centred on the theme of "education as freedom", Bridget Phillipson MP argued that education should give every child "the knowledge and skills to choose not just the career [they] want, but the life [they] want too." 💬

Making Equal podcast series 🎤

In episode 12, host Frances Sit is joined by Andy Boucher, former Senior Partner at PwC and a leading advocate for social mobility through organisations including the Employers' Social Mobility Alliance and the Social Mobility Business Partnership.

Drawing on decades of experience in business leadership and social mobility, Andy argues that while many employers are taking positive steps, voluntary action alone has not delivered the progress Britain needs. He makes the case for stronger expectations on business, including social mobility reporting, proportionate regulation and more.
