- Register with the university job shop, they generally keep students informed about new opportunities
- Meet as many people as you can. Also, drop in into pubs, cafes and hotel and check if they have a vacancy, not all vacancies are advertised.
- Look for Christmas Jobs well in advance, they the pay is generally higher at this time, it's the time to bring in some cash.
- Try online tutoring, mystery shopping or any freelance work you can pick up on, they generally pay well.

Checklist for moving in a private accommodation.
- Landlords are required to have a Gas safety certificate (CP12) for all the gas appliances in the property. Ask for it if it hasn't been sent to you
-Reading gas & electricity meters, look around for cheap energy deals.
-Safety Check of all the doors and windows.

Tenancy contract should be properly checked before getting into a contract. Here are 6 points to keep in mind while going into a contract.
1) Check whether its a joint tenancy contract or an individual contract for each tenant. Individual ones are more desirable.
2) Make sure you read the small print in your contact and discuss anything that looks odd to you.
3) look out for summer period rules, in case you have to go out or something you should be able to manage the rent accordingly.
4) You can always negotiate the rent.
5) Make a list of everything that the landlord is providing so that it is not a problem later.
6) Don't pay any Agency fee to an agent, it is banned in England.
