💬 “[My daughter] is buzzing, and so inspired by everything you organised. You packed in so many invaluable opportunities that just wouldn't be possible for youngsters otherwise."
This is why we do what we do! ❤️
Last week over half-term, we welcomed 16 fantastic Year 10 and 11 students for three action-packed STEM Insight Days. Our goal was to show them just how incredible a career in STEM can be.
They experienced some awe-inspiring stuff, including:
⚛️ Fusion Energy & Climate Solutions: A behind-the-scenes tour at UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) Culham Campus.
🤖 Advanced Robotics: Seeing Boston Dynamics’ Spot the robot dog in action at the RACE Lab!
🔬 Cutting-Edge Research: Touring the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
🏗️ Sustainable Construction: A site tour of the new Aspen Building with Beard.
🌍 Climate Science: Hands-on workshops with Department of Earth Sciences, University of Oxford, and a planetarium show with Science Oxford’s own Space Science Specialist Kat Kelly.
🤝 Speed Networking: Meeting people from across the industry to get real-world career tips.
A massive thank you to all the amazing organisations and brilliant people who helped inspire the next generation! 🙌

Primary teachers, how can you use stories as springboards for science?
We’re delighted award-winning author and illustrator Mini Grey will be sharing how stories can be a catalyst for science exploration at the upcoming Oxfordshire Primary Science Conference.
Mini will show how the story of life on Earth can be a framework for understanding Earth processes and the evolution of animals and plants, through an interactive workshop: ‘The Greatest Show on Earth – stories as springboards for science’.
She will introduce the 600 million year story of animal life on Earth with timelines and props, and share practical ideas for using the story of life on Earth to spark curiosity and exploration.
‘The Greatest Show on Earth’ featured as The Times Children’s book of the week, was selected as one of the Top 50 Books Every Child Should Read, as chosen by the National Literacy Trust in association with Good Housekeeping Magazine, and was shortlisted for the United Kingdom Literary Association Awards 2023.
Join us at the conference and be inspired with new ways to bring science to life in your classroom!
