It's been another great week at Word Academy:
- Mock exam prep for my year 11s
- Romantic poetry with home ed
- Animal Farm essay writing for year 9
- The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe inspired story writing for primary school
- an awful lot of prep for year 12s who have come to me for November resits
- and lots more!

Thanks for keeping me busy, gang!

Getting in a few parent consultations now the new academic year is underway. Lovely to hear how much my students are enjoying their lessons whether they are 8 or 18 and whether they are topping up school work or home educated and working with me as their only English teacher.

I'm lucky to get to do what I do. 🥰

My son has a broken collarbone, so is off school for a couple of days. Of course, having an English teacher mum means he has work to do. After a load of Animal Farm reading and writing, I went out to teach telling him to draw my Shakespeare bust using shading. This is what I got. 🤪 Shakespeare looks like he's done in his collarbone too!

For all the parents who have been admiring the Word Academy pumpkins as they have grown outside the classroom, here they are harvested and ready to be my autumn decor / eventual soup.

Face-to-face at the garden house for current year 5s.

I've been running some of these for a group ready to take their 11 plus next week and they've come on leaps and bounds! Happy parents and happy kids.

What a lovely gift from some students today, a brother and sister. One attended Word Academy face to face back in around 2019. The other online from the other side of the country in 2025-26. Thank you very much!
