1 week until the start of the new school year and I have the following openings for tuition:

Year 4/5 LITERACY AND CONFIDENCE - Tuesdays face-to-face
Year 8/9 SECONDARY SKILLS - Wednesdays face-to-face or Tuesdays online
Year 10/11 GCSE PREP - Tuesdays and Wednesdays (face-to-face) and Thursdays (online)
Home-education/ A-level lit or resitters - a couple of daytime slots available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Well done to all my Word Academy pupils and all other GCSE students getting their results today. There are lots of good (and great) results coming in so far. I'll share some lovely messages from students in the days to come.

If you didn't get what you wanted:
1) Remember your exam results don't and won't define you. You are so much more.
2) Breathe deeply, regroup over the coming days and see if you can look the resits in the eye in November.
3) Get in touch if I can help in any way - with just talking through choices or considering what's next for English.

A wonderful first result for this exam season from my adult learner who did her A-levels with me as a private candidate over the past two years. She got exactly what she wanted - a grade B! Well done, Niamh!

- That's a 100% grade B and above for every A-level student who has worked with me in the 9 years of Word Academy.

I mean, they have all been keen, hardworking students, so I'm not taking all the credit, but I hope I helped some!

Some lovely cards (one hand-made and illustrating the quill I have in the classroom!) and flowers/ chocs from students today. I've had to say goodbye to two longstanding customers as they head off to sit the 11-plus in September. Thanks for all the fun in lessons and wonderful imaginative writing and ideas, Immy and William!

Classes from September:

TUESDAYS
3.35pm - Years 4/5 or 5/6 - literacy, confidence and engagement (pick up available from Oxenhope Primary)

WEDNESDAYS
3.35pm - 11 plus prep for exams for years 4 and 5 (pick up available from Oxenhope Primary)
4.40pm - Year 10/11 GCSE prep
5.50pm - Year 8/9 secondary English skills

THURSDAYS
4.40pm - Online year 10/11 GCSE - FULL

There are other opportunities for new classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays for GCSE or lower secondary.

I also have daytime 121 availability for A-level students, home-educated students and budding writers.

Something new I'm trying out since I've been living and breathing writing for the past 5 years. Writing a novel (or four) is even harder than it looks - but oh boy, it gets under your skin and feels a little bit like flying...
