Lesson 1: Investigating flight and drag in aerodynamicism

Children spent time at our Patrick Engineering Centre building their own light aircraft. Special attention was paid to ensuring lateral stability to ensure the plane was able to glide smoothly. Aircraft were then launched outdoors to test their flight with children then adapting and refinining to make improvements.

🧬🧪 Year 5 & 6 STEM Day 🔬🥼Lesson 2: Biomimicry investigations Children visited SciTech laboratories to investigate Biomimicry. Observing how water droplets bounced off nasturtium leaves and the differences in fabric coated with Nanotex or uncoated, the children learnt that both natural and man made substances have the ability to repel water.
