Welcome to Donguri Karate!
If you've been thinking about introducing your child to martial arts but weren't sure where to start our 6-week course, created specifically for children aged 4 to 6, is the perfect opportunity. With over 20 years of experience in teaching children, we're dedicated to creating a fun, safe, and enjoyable environment for your child to learn and grow.
We understand that every child develops at a different pace and our classes are designed to help children improve their physical skills in a fun and rewarding way.

We introduce basic karate movements that are age-appropriate and easy for young children to grasp. The focus is on developing your child's:

Registration is now open for the new Donguri 2026 course.
Classes are on Wednesdays at 4.00pm starting on September 23rd.

The following karate-ka all passed their belt grading with flying colours.
Congratulations to Aoife, Elijah, Florence, Arwen, Noah, Emma, Joe, Zach and David.
You posted some impressive pass marks reflecting your hard work and dedication to karate.
A special mention goes to Joe, Zach and David who came along to our 6 week adults Introduction to Karate course and have now achieved their first karate belt - Keep up the good work.

It's been a fantastic few weeks at the Otley Karate Centre
- welcoming four new adult starters - Annabelle, Joe, Zach & David,
- a darts social evening,
- grading success for our Donguri class youngsters,
- students, siblings & parents running (or walking!) the inflatable 5K course at Harewood House and:
- a fantastic haul of medals (4 gold, 1 silver & 2 bronze) at the Jinsei karate competition for our small team of amazing karateka.
Next up will be the club belt gradings on 11 July!

At the SSKA National Open Kata Championships on 12 April Shihan Ken Gee was promoted to the highest karate rank of 10th Dan.
This prestigious honour was awarded in recognition of Sensei Gee's devoted lifelong commitment to the fascinating art of karate.
This year also marks another memorable milestone as the club Sensei Gee founded in 1971 celebrates its 55 year anniversary. Otley Karate Centre has been at the heart of the Otley community for 55 years, guiding students of all ages from beginner to black belt, with success at national, European and world level.
