What a wonderful first day back today! It was fantastic to see everyone’s happy smiling faces.
To kick off the school year, we had an assembly today to launch our Pupil Leadership applications. Our pupil leadership children are role models for our school, showing our school values in everything they do. Here is a quick rundown of the roles your fabulous children can apply for:
Reading Leaders - Mrs Hackett (years 1-6) 📚
Our reading leaders have the job of promoting reading through the school by reading to younger children, keeping the library environment tidy and helping organise events like World Book Day or poetry readings.
Eco Warriors - Mrs Cade (years 1-6) 🌍
Eco warriors roles are ideal for children who have a strong passion for the environment and a love for nature and protecting our planet. Their role will include community litter picking, identification of wildlife from the local area, ans introducing strategies for saving electricity and sustainability.
Event Coordinators - Mrs Kalinowski (years 1-6) ⭐️
Do you enjoy planning and helping out at events? Then this job is for you! Our event coordinators have a vital role in organising bake sales, sponsored runs and other fundraising events for our school and community.
Peer Mentors - Mrs Drakeley and Mrs Lewis (years 4-6) 👫
Peer mentors are around to support all of our children, especially our younger or new faces, to find strong friendships. These children will be present on the yard at break and lunchtime, ready to play games and make friendships.
Sports Leaders - Mrs Wirdnam and Mrs Morris (years 1-6) ⚽️
Calling all sports fanatics! Our sports leaders are in charge of helping Mrs Morris with the playground games, which includes teaching the younger children, modelling new sports kits, and assisting Mrs Wirdnam and Mrs Morris run Sports Day.
Safeguarding Council - Mrs Price (years 1-6) 🦺
A new pupil leadership role this year, but just as important as the rest! Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and these children are here to make sure everyone is safe and happy at school. Working closely with Mrs Price, you will take steps to make our school the best it can be.
House Captains - Mrs Wirdnam (year 6)🤝
As year 6 children, you are given the most responsibility. As house captains, you will have the job of collecting house points for your houses, representing each house at events and having an overall leadership position in your house.
The children have been asked to write letters, addressed to the staff member/members supporting each role, entailing why they would be a good fit for these roles. Children are encouraged to apply for multiple roles if they wish. All letters need to be handed in by September 11th. We can’t wait to read them!
