What a wonderful first day back today! It was fantastic to see everyone’s happy smiling faces.

To kick off the school year, we had an assembly today to launch our Pupil Leadership applications. Our pupil leadership children are role models for our school, showing our school values in everything they do. Here is a quick rundown of the roles your fabulous children can apply for:

Reading Leaders - Mrs Hackett (years 1-6) 📚
Our reading leaders have the job of promoting reading through the school by reading to younger children, keeping the library environment tidy and helping organise events like World Book Day or poetry readings.

Eco Warriors - Mrs Cade (years 1-6) 🌍
Eco warriors roles are ideal for children who have a strong passion for the environment and a love for nature and protecting our planet. Their role will include community litter picking, identification of wildlife from the local area, ans introducing strategies for saving electricity and sustainability.

Event Coordinators - Mrs Kalinowski (years 1-6) ⭐️
Do you enjoy planning and helping out at events? Then this job is for you! Our event coordinators have a vital role in organising bake sales, sponsored runs and other fundraising events for our school and community.

Peer Mentors - Mrs Drakeley and Mrs Lewis (years 4-6) 👫
Peer mentors are around to support all of our children, especially our younger or new faces, to find strong friendships. These children will be present on the yard at break and lunchtime, ready to play games and make friendships.

Sports Leaders - Mrs Wirdnam and Mrs Morris (years 1-6) ⚽️
Calling all sports fanatics! Our sports leaders are in charge of helping Mrs Morris with the playground games, which includes teaching the younger children, modelling new sports kits, and assisting Mrs Wirdnam and Mrs Morris run Sports Day.

Safeguarding Council - Mrs Price (years 1-6) 🦺
A new pupil leadership role this year, but just as important as the rest! Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and these children are here to make sure everyone is safe and happy at school. Working closely with Mrs Price, you will take steps to make our school the best it can be.

House Captains - Mrs Wirdnam (year 6)🤝
As year 6 children, you are given the most responsibility. As house captains, you will have the job of collecting house points for your houses, representing each house at events and having an overall leadership position in your house.

The children have been asked to write letters, addressed to the staff member/members supporting each role, entailing why they would be a good fit for these roles. Children are encouraged to apply for multiple roles if they wish. All letters need to be handed in by September 11th. We can’t wait to read them!

One final walk...

Today we gave our wonderful Year 6 pupils the send-off they truly deserved.

With a guard of honour from the staff, we clapped and cheered them onto the field one last time as they completed their final walk as primary school pupils. It was a special moment filled with smiles, pride and a few happy tears.

Year 6, thank you for the memories, the laughter and everything you've brought to our school. We are so proud of you all and wish you every success as you begin your next adventure.

Today has been full of smiles, celebrations and special memories.

We kicked off the day with our final Friday Mile of the year, complete with some brilliant tunes to keep everyone moving!

Our Celebration Assembly was a lovely way to finish the term, with certificates presented to everyone in each class to recognise all of their hard work, achievements and successes throughout the year. A special congratulations also goes to Autumn, who was proudly presented with her 200m swimming badge – what an amazing achievement!

To round off the day, it was wonderful to welcome our families onto the field for our end-of-year picnic. It was so lovely to spend time together, enjoy the sunshine and celebrate another fantastic year as a school community.

Our year 6 children had the best time at their Bedtime Glow Disco! From glow sticks and great tunes to plenty of dancing, laughter and making memories with friends, it was such a fun afternoon.

It was lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves and celebrating together before the end of their primary school journey. These are the moments they'll remember for years to come!

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the evening so special.

Only one more day to go, Year 6... let's make it count!

Today our children came together in one big circle, singing Wonderwall by Oasis before proudly cheering on England ahead of tonight's World Cup match. The sense of excitement, togetherness and school spirit was incredible, and we're so pleased we captured the moment on video to share with you.

It was a brilliant example of our school values in action, Community, Courage and Respect. Seeing each child join in, support one another and celebrate together was a wonderful reminder of what makes our school so special.

Good luck, England! Weston Rhyn Primary School is behind you!

This morning's Year 6 Leavers' Assembly was a truly special occasion. It was an emotional and heartfelt celebration, full of wonderful memories, laughter and, of course, a few tears. We are so proud of our amazing Year 6 pupils and all they have achieved during their time with us. They have grown into confident, caring and resilient young people, and we know they have bright futures ahead.

Although we're not quite saying goodbye just yet, this morning was a lovely opportunity to reflect on their journey and celebrate everything they have accomplished together.

A huge thank you to all of our staff who worked so hard to make this morning so memorable, and to our parents and families for your continued support throughout your children's primary school journey. We couldn't do it without you.

What a wonderful Celebration Assembly we had today!

It was fantastic to recognise so many of our Stars of the Week—we had lots of deserving children celebrating their achievements, which is always lovely to see.

We also celebrated some fantastic successes outside of school. Congratulations to Darcie for her achievements in dancing, Hattie for her swimming success, and Zach for earning a new belt through his Taekwondo grading.

We are incredibly proud of all of our award winners and love celebrating the hard work, dedication and talents of our pupils both in and out of school. Well done, everyone and have a fantastic weekend.

Our talented Drama After School Club recently delighted families and staff with a fantastic performance of The Librarian and the Mixed Up Stories. After weeks of rehearsals, the children took to the stage with confidence, bringing a host of well-loved fairy tale characters to life in this fun and entertaining production.

The audience thoroughly enjoyed the twists, humour and brilliant performances, and we were incredibly proud of every child for their enthusiasm, teamwork and commitment. Performing in front of an audience takes courage, and the children rose to the challenge brilliantly. A massive thank you to Miss Ellis-Jones and Mrs Kalinowski for all their hard work and effort.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who supported the production, whether by helping with costumes, learning lines or cheering from the audience. Well done to our wonderful cast for putting on such a memorable show!
