Old Oswestrian Society

Old Oswestrian Society The official Old Oswestrian Society page welcomes all OOs to share their news and memories of Oswestry School.

Since the first Old Oswestrian dinner on 1st March 1882 the Society has grown to become a very active body of support who is just as passionate about the School’s future as it is about its past. An Old Oswestrian’s connection with the School does not stop once they walk through the ‘Last Day’ exit for the final time as a pupil. The Society endeavours to facilitate a continuing relationship with al

l Old Oswestrians. We pride ourselves on the tremendous sense of community that our Old Oswestrians have with one another and with the School. Despite a diverse range of ages, occupations, and interests, we believe the shared experience of years at School creates a great bond for all members of the Society which exists to enable that sense of community to flourish. The Society helps all members to keep in touch, and to continue to support the School in many diverse ways.

A lovely afternoon with Vicki Cox, current Governor at school, (was at Bellan ‘58-‘64) and her cousin Jane Asterley Berry (also Bellan ‘54-‘60). Both were researching their fathers, Wilfred Birch Thomas (Bellan and Oswestry School ‘30-‘36) and James Brady (J.B) Asterley (Oswestry School ‘32-‘38) later a Governor at Bellan. Both featured heavily in the OO magasines of their day. Aunt Sophie and another cousin Ruth Asterley were also ex-pupils and later teachers at Bellan. A real family affair with Vicki’s children and grandchildren also attending both Prep and Oswestry School! Nearly 100 years of education through Oswestry School… that’s impressive 👌📚
