There’s a few new faces around here so I wanted to re-introduce myself…hello! 😊👋 I’m the Forest School Lady!

If you’d like to get to know me better, here’s some quick facts about me!

I call myself The Forest School Lady and I am on a quest to learn more every day! 🌳

I am a restless soul who loves to be outside 🍂

When I was a classroom teacher I was always looking for excuses to get the children outside and exploring, moving and thinking for themselves. Not just because it is better for the children but because it is better for me! 🥰

I like to say “why not?” Instead of “why?” 😄

I often think how I was when I was a child and my own children when I am designing the environment 🏕️

I also think about the kind of adults we would like the children in our care to become and as adults what we have missed out on - luckily it is not too late!! 🥳 We can play outside and climb trees too! 🌲

I love being with the children in a relaxed environment 🏕️

I love trusting them and seeing what they achieve 🥰

I love having a workout every day! 💪

I love the challenge our British Climate brings 🇬🇧

I love being the first to see the spring buds and autumn leaves 🍂

Yesterday was one of those heartwarming days that remind me why I love what I do! Bloomsbury Children’s Books surprised us with the most incredible gift…a stunning bookshelf and a huge selection of beautiful books for our Forest School children to enjoy! 📚🥹

Not only did they choose Park Hall Forest School for this amazing giveaway, but the lovely Kate from Bloomsbury even drove all the way to hand-deliver them! 😍 We are beyond grateful for this generosity, and I just know these books will bring so much joy, wonder, and adventure to our little explorers 🥰

Storytime in the woods just got even more magical! Thank you, ! 🌲💚

Is there anything more rewarding than passing down real-life skills to the next generation? 🥰

As educators, we know the value of hands-on learning! Watching little ones discover, create, and grow in confidence is what makes it all worthwhile 💚

As Forest School teachers, we’re not just helping children connect with nature; we’re equipping them with skills that will last a lifetime 🥳

Because let’s be honest, seeing a preschooler master a hammer and nail is just as exciting (if not more) as teaching them their ABCs! 😁

Fire lighting is more than just a survival skill…it’s at the heart of forest school! 🔥

As Forest School Leaders, we use fire to bring people together, cook food, build confidence, and teach responsibility in the great outdoors 🌲

Knowing how to safely start, manage, and extinguish a fire is essential for creating a warm, welcoming, and safe learning environment! 💚

Plus, the training on my level 3 training course is exactly what you need to meet insurance criteria for fire lighting in your setting 🥳

Why teach in a classroom when you can teach in a forest? 🌲✨ Here’s why I swapped four walls for towering trees:

🍃 The ‘ceiling’ is unlimited—goodbye, fluorescent lights, hello, sky!
🌳 My whiteboard is a log, my desks are tree stumps, and my resources? Sticks, mud, and pure imagination!
🐿️ The only interruptions come from chirping birds and the occasional squirrel argument!
💨 Fresh air beats stuffy classrooms any day, no one ever fell asleep in a lesson with the wind in their hair!
🌱 Children learn best when they’re free to explore, get muddy, climb, build, and discover the magic of nature for themselves!

So, if you need me, I’ll be out here, teaching fractions with pinecones and storytelling around a campfire 🔥
