Have you heard of or tried Toastmasters? 🎙

It’s a speaking club where you can practice in person with fellow entrepreneurs who are also working on their speaking skills.

It’s a popular way to work on the basics like volume and eye contact, and for some, it’s the ideal solution. However, I’ve heard mixed reviews so let me know if you’ve tried it.

So option 2 to go from average to amazing is…

2) Join a speaking club

✅ Pros: You’ll get valuable practice time, which is great for overcoming nerves and building your confidence getting up there to speak and thinking on your feet.

But there’s also a downside to consider...

❌ Cons: Group clubs focus on general speaking skills and don’t provide feedback that’s personal to you. Their style is very critical and possibly a little outdated??

Growth with a group can feel slow because you’re advancing at their pace and you may get frustrated..

Are you impatient to take your voice to the stage?

If you’re an entrepreneur who’s had some success with public speaking, you’re already onto a winner!

You’ve experienced the power of sharing your story and now you’re ready to explore opportunities to make an even bigger impact with your voice.

So how do you get from average to amazing?

Option 1) Trial and error

Being an entrepreneur, you’re fiercely independent so it’s only natural that you’ll consider working this out for yourself.

✅ Pros: It’s independent, flexible, and allows you to experiment with different speaking styles - confidence comes with practice right?

❌ Cons: The biggest challenge is limited feedback. You won’t know what your audience are thinking when you’re relying on self-assessment. You may even reinforce habits that will stand out like a sore thumb on a big stage.

I speak from experience, going solo means a lot of failures and false starts.

1. Get a friend to give you honest feedback on your pitch, and let go of the fear of what people are saying.

2. Ask a customer for feedback on your videos to see if you’re connecting with your target audience. Their insights are pure gold for your business!

Practice Makes Progress! Here’s how to turn speaking practice into a power hour for your business.

Want to speak confidently without the “wobbly voice”? Start by adding a weekly practice session to your routine.

Here’s how:

1. Set aside one hour each week to practice your 60-second pitch
2. Record yourself on your phone or Zoom
3. Watch it back, identify three strengths and one area for improvement

Yes, it may feel cringeworthy, but you’ll see that you’re better than you think!

Pay close attention to your pace, tone, and body language. Are you speaking clearly? Does your posture build trust?

Recording each session means you will visibly see yourself improving and your confidence will soar.

Should I stay or should I go??

You may or may not have noticed (or even care!) I've been taking a break from posting on here for a while.

To be honest I got a little bored of Instagram and Facebook and found all this algorithm nonsense really 😴

But I do wonder if I'm missing something 🤔

So I'm in a bit of a dilemma and genuinely would like to know what you think.

Because I'm not someone who does things by halves, so do I stay and go back to sharing awesome public speaking content....
