Good morning Ossett. Another sunny start on our little precinct.

The picture may not do it justice but there's a bustle around the place this morning...and even a saxophonist!

A great place we have here!

As the dust settles on GCSE results day yesterday, there will no doubt be many a happy face with targets reached and access to future courses granted due to the results received.

The disappointment of not receiving grades that were hoped for, the sadness of young people feeling they have let themselves or family down however if results haven't been as expected, is all too real.

It is however important to point out, it's not the end of the world. If your child has been left deflated by their results and future options, take a look at our graphic to see alternatives and actions which may help.

If you or your child needs some support and guidance on the back of the results, you are welcome to reach out to see how we can help.

Today is the day Year 11s have been waiting for since the end of the GCSEs back in June - it's results day!

It's important to remember that, even if your child perhaps didn't get what they were hoping to achieve in their results, it certainly isn't the end and many more opportunities are are available.

Each year, we field requests for support for those heading into Year 12 and this year is no different. If your child is worried about what their results mean for them and need some support, reach out to us to see how our 1:1 services can help.

Today we take a closer look at our associate, Bev, who offers a range of SEND-related services to children, young people and families.

With 25 years of experience of SEND in education, care and local authority settings, Bev is able to draw on a host of experiences and qualifications to support families who may be struggling to navigate the complex world of SEND.

Bev also recently qualified as a Solution-Focused Hypnotherapist and we look forward to highlighting this exciting new service going forward.

Do you know a family struggling with the often complex nature of SEND? Whether it's in relation to school settings, communication with local authority figures or gaining an understanding of support and entitlements, Bev's know-how can be sure to help.

Contact us today if you would like to discuss the SEND or hypnotherapy services Bev offers.

This month, we'll take a closer look at the members of our team who deliver our services.

Andrew is a qualified coach and mentor who originally founded Headway services back in 2020 before developing into Focusing Minds CIC today.

Over the years, Andrew has gained supplementary awards in many areas related to mental health and wellbeing, including certification in person-centred counselling skills and a TQUK award in Understanding Autism.

When making contact with Focusing, Andrew is likely going to be the first person you speak to, being a director of service provision.

Contact us today if you know a child or young person who would benefit from Andrew's early-entry services.

Here at Focusing Minds, we have two main support spaces where we deliver our services: Ossett and Brighouse.

Both spaces are tastefully decorated and designed to encourage relaxation, a safe space where young people can openly discuss and work on any concerns or worries they may have.

If you know a young person who would benefit from support right now, why not reach out to see how we can help?

We hope that, if you completed A-Levels or equivalent Level 3 qualifications, your child gained the results they wanted to progress onto university or can confidently take the next steps into the world of work.

We know that not everyone however will have gained the results they wanted or felt they needed for their next steps. Naturally this can be disappointing, upsetting and might lead to reduced feelings of worth.

If your child didn't get the results they were after, it's not the end. It's important not to panic!

If moving to university but did not get the required results to get onto a chosen course, be sure to check UCAS and see what alternative options are available. Check the clearing process and see what courses could be available. Taking a gap year is a also a possibility.

Remember, if your child struggles in light of their results, or would benefit from some support going forward, talking to someone can be a huge help. You're welcome to reach out to us to discover how we may be able to help.
