Weโre working extremely hard behind the scenes to get as many uniform requests sorted as possible before the new school year. ๐
As we get closer to September, though, time is becoming very tight.

It also saves us a huge amount of time on individual deliveries โ which means we can use that time to prepare uniform and ๐ก๐๐ฅ๐ฉ ๐๐ฏ๐๐ง ๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐ฅ๐จ๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ฌ.
Weโll keep doing everything we possibly can, but please help us to help as many people as possible. ๐
Thank you for your patience and understanding โ and a huge thank you to everyone supporting Small Steps.

๐ฆ Can you help us help even more families?
As we head into our busiest time of year, weโre working hard to make sure every child has the school uniform they need for September.
One of the biggest demands on our small volunteer team is delivering uniform. At the moment, only two volunteers are able to carry out deliveries, which means every collection made in person frees up valuable time to help even more families.
If youโre able to collect your order, weโd be incredibly grateful if you could use our collection point at The Give Box Community Shop, Trinity Walk.
๐ Collection times: Monday-Saturday, 10am-4pm.
The shop is easy to reach, including via Wakefieldโs free city bus.
We completely understand that some families genuinely need a delivery, and weโll always do our best to support those who canโt collect. But if getting to Trinity Walk is possible for you, choosing collection really does make a huge difference.
Thank you for helping us make every volunteer hour count. ๐

โค๏ธ WOWโฆ just look at this! โค๏ธ
This is one of donation bins collected from our wonderful Walton Primary Academy drop-off point. ๐ฅน
As another school year comes to an end, weโd like to say a huge thank you to every family who has popped in a bag of uniform, PE kit or school essentials. Every single item makes a difference.
The summer holidays might feel like a chance for a rest (and we hope everyone gets one!), but behind the scenes itโs one of our busiest times of year. Weโre sorting, checking, washing, drying (thank you, sunshine! โ๏ธ), folding and organising thousands of items ready for September, when demand for school uniform is at its highest.
Your generosity means children can start the new school year feeling confident, included and ready to learn, without the added financial pressure on their families.
If youโre having an end-of-term clear out, please donโt throw out uniforms that still have plenty of life left in them. Weโd love to give them a second chance.
๐ Thank you Walton Primary Academy for hosting the bins, and thank you to every family who continues to support Small Steps. We couldnโt do it without you.
๐ Our donation points are:
โข Walton Primary Academy
โข Sandal
โข Leeds Road
Together, weโre making sure good uniforms donโt go to waste and that every child has the chance to start September feeling proud. ๐
If you could host a bin for us, even just for a short while, please get in touch.

โ๏ธ It might only be July, but behind the scenes itโs already feeling a little bit like September at Small Steps! โ๏ธ
This week has been a busy one with sorting, sizing, packing and preparing uniforms ready for the new school year. Add in the heatwave, football tournaments, end-of-term events and holidays on the horizon and summer is certainly keeping us on our toes! โฝ๐ก๏ธ๐
Weโve already started putting together uniform packs for local families and we know that over the coming weeks demand will only continue to grow.
If youโre having a summer clear out and have any good quality school uniform that your children have outgrown, weโd be incredibly grateful for donations.
We currently have donation points at:
๐ Walton Primary Academy
๐ Sandal
๐ Leeds Road
Every jumper, polo shirt, cardigan, skirt or pair of trousers donated helps another local child head back to school feeling confident and ready to learn.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support us by donating, volunteering, sharing our posts or simply spreading the word. Small steps really do make a big difference โค๏ธ
We know weโve been a little quiet recently but thereโs been lots happening behind the scenes.
Much of our time has been spent preparing for the influx of referrals as we get ready to support families as the new school year approaches
Just a little update- if your referral is for September we might hold onto it a little longer so we can add to it with new donations
Donโt worry- we wonโt have forgotten about you

๐ฒ Bicycle Appeal โ Can You Help? ๐ฒ
The demand for children's bicycles through our Bike Library is growing, and we're appealing for donations of bikes suitable for children aged 6 right through to teenagers.
Do you have a bike sitting unused in a shed, garage or garden? We'd love to give it a new lease of life! We are happy to accept bikes that need minor repairs, as our volunteers can often repair, service and refurbish them before passing them on to local children and families who otherwise couldn't afford one.
With the school holidays just around the corner, we're receiving more requests than ever from families looking for bikes so children can get active, enjoy the outdoors and take part in activities such as the local Beat the Street challenge.
By donating a bike, you'll be:
โ
Helping a child get active and healthy
โ
Supporting families facing financial hardship
โ
Recycling and preventing waste
โ
Giving a bike a second chance to be loved
If you have a bicycle to donate, please get in touch with The Well Project on 07872 551640 or drop it off at the Well in Haw Hill Park on a Tuesday or Friday 9am to 4pm.
Thank you for helping us keep local children moving this summer! ๐ดโโ๏ธ๐ดโโ๏ธ๐
