✨ We’ve normalised overwhelmed childhoods.✨

Fast-paced days.
Constant transitions.
Noise.
Pressure.
Children being pulled from deep play again and again.

Somewhere along the way… this became “normal” in early years.

But normal doesn’t always mean healthy.

And I think many educators can feel this deep down.

Because despite doing more than ever…
So many children still seem dysregulated, disconnected and overwhelmed.

And the adults?

Exhausted too.

We were never meant to spend our days rushing children from one thing to the next while trying to hold together an overstimulating environment and endless expectations.

🌿 The truth is…

Children don’t need more noise, more worksheets, more themes or more transitions.

They need:

✨ Calm nervous systems
✨ Time for deep play
✨ Emotionally safe environments
✨ Present adults who can truly connect
✨ Slower rhythms and fewer interruptions

One of the biggest shifts in my own practice came when I stopped asking:

“What else should I add?”

…and started asking:

“What can I simplify?”

Because when we slow things down…
Children often begin to thrive.

🕯️ This is exactly what I teach inside my Hygge in the Early Years Training.

A gentle, practical approach to:
🌿 slowing pedagogy
🌿 creating calm environments
🌿 understanding behaviour through a nervous system lens
🌿 reducing overwhelm for both children and adults

You do not need to do more to create meaningful learning.

Sometimes the magic is found in doing less… deeply.

Another lovely half term exploring nature, running free, watching the new ducklings and goslings in the ponds and rivers and learning the names of baby animals at the farm.
We now have caterpillars at home 🐛 We’re all very excited to see them grow over the next few weeks 🦋

The laminator is back out which means one thing… we’re back open tomorrow! We’ve found some fabulous resources from www.earlyyearsoutdoor.co.uk that will enhance our learning this term. We will be visiting farms, finding blossom trees and talking about the Earth and how important it is that we look after our planet. We are really looking forward to seeing you all very soon 🌎 🌱 🌸 🧑‍🌾 🐷 🐮
