As part of their topic all about animals, EYFS have been learning about predators and dangerous animals. They have been working as teams to create some exciting new animals! Can you spot what animals they have combined to create their new creatures?
As part of their history study on the impact of war, Year 6 have been thinking about what rationing would have been like and how people’s diets changed. They worked together to make traditional bread pudding. Year 6 also took a trip to the Imperial War Museum and Chislehurst Caves to look at where people locally would have sheltered during the Blitz.
Year 5 have completed a textile project to create a lunch bag to hold a set of sandwiches. They practiced running stitch, back stitch and blanket stitch before creating their final designs.
Year 2 have recently enjoyed a visit to The Horniman Museum to look at animal habitats and have a go at playing some incredible instruments from all over the world. The children also enjoyed a walk through the butterfly tent - they were so excited when butterflies began to land on them!
In their science lessons this term Year 6 have been learning about the human body. They made a model of the hand to mimic the shortening of the tendons to show how the muscles connect to the wrist and enable the fingers to flex.
Year 3 have been exploring the different types of rocks with a recent focus on sedimentary rocks. They used cereal to represent the different layers of sedimentary rocks in their science lesson. It was a truly delicious session!
EYFS have been learning all about different animals this half term. This week they have been learning about British wildlife and pets. They were very excited when Mr W's dog, Pepper, came in to visit. They loved giving her cuddles and learning about all of the things she needs to be happy and healthy. Pepper had the best time too, as her favourite thing is being fussed over!
Year 2 have started reading their new book called ‘Water Protectors’ that focuses on the topic of saving the water on our precious planet. To kick-start this exciting topic, the children have been looking at the causes and effects of water pollution and learning about how crucial water is for humans, animals and plants.
Wishing all of our community a very Happy New Year! The staff are busy preparing exciting activities for the coming weeks, and we are looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
This will certainly be a Christmas to remember for two very special GSG teachers...a HUGE congratulations to Miss Meadows and Mr Elvines! ❤️
Thank you to Megan Blake Photography, a former GSG pupil, for this beautiful picture.
Thank you so much to our wonderful SHA! Their incredible devotion to our school means they have raised £4976 for our children. Thank you to everyone involved with organising and running this colossal event, and thank you to everyone who came and supported us.
Last week, Bluebird Care invited the choir to entertain some of their clients. They gathered in St Mary's Church to sing a variety of festive songs. Everyone had a wonderful time, and the children loved being able to spread some Christmas cheer to members of our local community.
Not only is it Friday, but tomorrow is our Christmas Fair! We cannot wait to see you all tomorrow to kickstart the festive season.🎄
In their music lessons, EYFS have been learning all about celebration music for different festivals. They have loved using the drums and tambourines to play along to traditional music, as well as creating their own dances.
Year 6 have been learning about cubism and have created their own piece of cubist style still life collage using recycled materials.
