πŸ‘πŸšœ The farm came to !

Reception, Year 2 and our SLC children had an unforgettable visit from Manor Farmβ€”right here on our school field! The children loved meeting a range of friendly farm animals and discovering fascinating facts about how they live, what they eat and how to care for them.

This hands-on experience brought their learning to life, sparking curiosity and encouraging lots of thoughtful questions about animals, habitats and the natural world. There were smiles all round as the children got up close to the animals, creating memories they won't forget in a hurry! πŸπŸ‡πŸ₯

What a fantastic way to enrich learning beyond the classroom! 🌿✨

πŸŽ¨πŸ—Ώ Year 4 have been studying the work of the renowned sculptor Alberto Giacometti in Art. Inspired by his distinctive sculptures, known for their elongated limbs and torsos, the children created their own figures using foil.

The flexible material allowed the children to shape and pose their sculptures, encouraging them to think carefully about movement, proportion and expression. It was a fantastic opportunity to explore the work of a famous artist while developing their own sculpting techniques. The finished creations are full of character! ✨

πŸ₯”πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ Year 3 have been exploring healthy food choices in Design and Technology. The children practised the claw and bridge cutting techniques to safely prepare potatoes, which were then air fried to create a healthier version of chips.

They chose to leave the skin on their potatoes to increase the fibre content and add extra texture. The finished chips were a huge successβ€”so much so that there weren't any left by the end of the lesson! πŸ˜‹βœ¨

πŸš‘β›‘οΈ Year 6 recently took part in an invaluable First Aid Training workshop, where they learned essential life-saving skills. The children practised placing a casualty into the recovery position, performing CPR in an emergency, and using a defibrillator.

The workshop gave the children the confidence and knowledge to respond calmly in an emergency, equipping them with skills that could one day help save a life.

A huge thank you to Steve from the London Fire Brigade for delivering such an engaging, informative and memorable session. πŸš’πŸ‘

πŸš’βœ¨Year 6 visited Orpington Fire Station to take part in the Junior Citizenship Scheme. During the visit, the children participated in five informative workshops designed to help them become responsible citizens and prepare for their transition to secondary school.

The workshops covered important topics including fire safety, criminal responsibility and safe travel, giving the children valuable knowledge and practical advice for the future.

A huge thank you to all of the organisations who gave up their time to deliver such engaging and worthwhile sessions. The children gained so much from the experience and represented the school brilliantly throughout the day. 🌟

πŸ₯•πŸœ Year 5 have been exploring foods from different cultures and cooked delicious vegetable stir fries as part of their learning. The children practised their knife skills by carefully slicing and dicing a colourful rainbow of ingredients.

They experimented with different flavours, combining ginger, garlic, lime, spring onions and soy sauce with carrots and rice noodles to create their tasty dishes. A fantastic hands-on cooking experience full of creativity and teamwork! πŸ‘©β€πŸ³βœ¨
