🌟Recordkeeping Service of the Year – recognising the incredible work of our entire Archives team.

We couldn’t have done it without the support of our Edge Hill community. Thank you to everyone who voted, shared our posts and helped spread the word.

Archivist Dan Copley shared: "Thanks to everyone who has worked with the archive service over the past 18 months, including Dee McMahon, Rachel Bird, Sophie Smith, Anna França, Rachel Bury and all our outstanding student volunteers."

Inspiring inside and outside the classroom: Alumnus Dafydd’s incredible charity journey

After graduating from Edge Hill with a BSc (Hons) Science with Physics with Qualified Teacher Status in 2014, Dafydd Helps-Fursse has built an incredible teaching career, from working in schools across the UK to spending five years teaching in the United Arab Emirates and leading student expeditions to Nepal and Borneo.

Alongside his career in education, Dafydd has a passion for endurance challenges. Having already rowed the Atlantic Ocean in 41 days, he's now setting his sights on crossing the South Pole to raise awareness of men's mental health and support charities including CALM and Andy's Man Club.

Thirty years after meeting as students at Edge Hill, alumni Cathie and Scott Gibbens are celebrating two incredible milestones.

This August marks their 30th wedding anniversary, and Cathie has recently been appointed Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, following Scott's term as Mayor last year. Together, they are the first married couple in the borough's history to complete all four civic roles of deputy consort, deputy mayor, consort and mayor.

A chance meeting over pancake recipes on campus lead to careers dedicated to education, public service and their local community, their story is a wonderful reminder of where an Edge Hill education can lead.

Congratulations, Cathie and Scott, on your achievements – and thank you for sharing your inspiring journey with us.

More than 50 years after graduating, Dave Johnson recently returned to Edge Hill for the first time since leaving in 1971, and what a trip down memory lane it was.

Dave studied Drama and English Literature between 1968 and 1971 and was amazed by how much the campus has changed, describing the transformation as "fabulous". Guided by fellow alumnus and lifelong friend Sam Botfield, he revisited Stanley Hall Common Room, the rooms where he lived as a student, and the Rose Theatre, where he gave a memorable performance as Jerry in Edward Albee's The Zoo Story for his final drama assessment.

That production proved to be a defining moment in Dave's life. Not only did he take the lead role, but he also designed and built the set and created the promotional poster. Following the performance, he was even offered a place at RADA – an opportunity he ultimately chose not to take.

After graduating, Dave enjoyed a successful career as a headteacher and later appeared as a TV extra in productions including Happy Valley, Peaky Blinders and The Crucible.

Thank you to Sam for sharing Dave's wonderful story and these fantastic photos with us. 📸

Have you returned to campus after many years away? We'd love to hear what memories came flooding back.

This week was a truly special milestone for mother and daughter duo Rachel Simcock and Charlotte Ingle, who graduated from Edge Hill on the very same day! A moment that Charlotte says she “will always treasure”.

Three years ago, Rachel, a registered mental health nurse from Warrington, joined Charlotte at one of our open days. The visit left a lasting impression on them both.

Fast forward to now:
🎓 Rachel has graduated with a postgraduate diploma in mental health education
🎓 Charlotte has completed her BSc (Hons) Child Nursing degree
