Swaddling is a technique that has been used for many centuries and in recent years it has become a popular settling technique in the Netherlands and some parts of the USA and UK. In the UK, about 19% of babies are swaddled in the first 4 weeks of life. Swipe across to see the benefits of safe swaddling.
To practise safe swaddling you can buy specially made swaddle wraps, or swaddle your baby loosely in a lightweight blanket. You should also stop swaddling your baby at around 3 months, before they begin to roll over.

βοΈ Summer is here! βοΈ
As the weather gets warmer, it's sandal season!
We kindly ask grown-ups to remove shoes and pop on socks (or bring a clean pair with you) when attending our baby sensory classes. This helps keep our matted floors clean, fresh, and hygienic for all the little ones exploring, rolling, crawling and playing.
𧦠A little reminder: we're running low on spare socks. If you've accidentally taken a pair home after class, we'd be so grateful if you could bring them back next time. Thank you! π
Babies are encouraged to be barefoot whenever possible! π£
Being barefoot has so many benefits for your baby's development:
β¨ Helps strengthen foot muscles
β¨ Supports the natural development of arches
β¨ Improves balance and coordination
β¨ Enhances sensory feedback from the floor
β¨ Helps mobile babies grip and push against the floor when crawling, cruising, and taking those first steps
Thank you for helping us create a safe, clean and sensory-rich environment for every baby to enjoy. π

More night wakings at 4 months?
You're not alone. This common sleep regression is caused by a permanent change in how your baby sleeps. It is perfectly normal and although it can be challenging at times, it won't last forever.
You will sleep again. ππͺπ

Things to Know Before Your First Baby Sensory Class
Feeling a little nervous about coming along for the first time? We've got you covered. π
At Baby Sensory, we know that babies have their own plans and that's absolutely okay!
πΌ It doesn't matter if your baby needs a feed.
πΆ It doesn't matter if your baby cries.
πΌ It doesn't matter if your baby needs a nappy change.
π΄ It doesn't matter if your baby falls asleep.
Crying is simply your baby's way of communicating. Every cry means something different and responding to their needs always comes first.
If your little one falls asleep during class, don't worry. It's definitely not a waste of time! Babies' brains develop faster during the first months of life than at any other stage. Even when they seem sleepy or quiet, they are still taking in the world around them and forming important neural connections that support their growth and development.
And while baby rests, you can enjoy some time to relax, chat with other parents, and pick up ideas for sensory play at home when your little one is awake and ready to explore.
Most importantly, you're not alone. π
All of our class leaders are parents too, so we completely understand the realities of life with a baby. Chances are, other parents in the room are experiencing exactly the same things.
Come as you are, feed when you need to, cuddle when you need to, and enjoy the experience together. We can't wait to welcome you, it's not too late to join us! β¨
