“There is nothing that I would do differently.”

After making the decision she no longer wanted to attend her first-choice university, Libby Childs entered Clearing. She started to research universities, and although Edge Hill hadn’t originally been included in her top five, she discovered that it offered a combined course that was much better suited to her.

“Once I found Edge Hill I fell in love with it and decided that I was going to apply there through Clearing,” says Libby. “The process for applying was so simple and very easy. Once I had sent my application off to Edge Hill they had responded within an hour.”

Results Day is an exciting milestone for both students and supporters. As they prepare for their next chapter, here are a few simple ways you can support them:

✅ Stay calm – a reassuring voice and a positive mindset can make all the difference.
📱 Be prepared – make sure they have access to their UCAS account, results and UCAS Personal ID.
📞 Encourage them to make the calls – universities will need to speak to your student directly, but you can help them prepare what to ask and be there for support.
💬 Help them ask questions – encourage them to explore course details, entry requirements, accommodation and what student life could look like before accepting an offer.
💜 Let them lead – it's their future, so give them the confidence and space to make the decision that feels right for them.
🌟 Keep an open mind – it can be another route to finding the right university and course, and exciting opportunities can appear when you least expect them.
