I genuinely don’t know how I feel about this… 😂

As a massive blink-182 fan, I have spent years telling my first aid learners that when it comes to CPR, they really don’t need to start singing songs like Stayin’ Alive or Nellie the Elephant.

Mainly because if I’m ever unfortunate enough to need CPR, the last thing I want is three people standing over me trying to hit the high notes of the Bee Gees!. 😂

My advice has always been:

“Forget the songs. Remember 100–120 compressions per minute, you know what that sounds like with a simple count!”

But then today I discover that the American Heart Association has referenced blink-182s “I Miss You”, at 110 BPM — right in the recommended CPR range.

And suddenly my entire professional position is in crisis. 😧

Because I can quite happily tell a room full of learners:

“Don’t worry about singing silly songs that nobody likes…”

…but if someone starts doing CPR to blink-182, I’m not sure I’m going to have the heart to stop them, never mind putting that in the “silly song” profiling like the others…😂

In fact, I may have to completely rethink my teaching strategy….. Dammit! 😉

“Right everyone, forget the Bee Gees. Today we’re learning CPR to blink-182.” 🎸

Finally, my two worlds have collided.

First aid trainer by profession.

blink-182 fan by choice.

CPR instructor who now has absolutely no excuse not to have I Miss You on the playlist. 😂

Today we have been to the fabulous WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre again to deliver another Emergency first aid at work qualification for their newest team members. 🦅 🦢 🐦

Wow what an experience 🥂

On Friday night we got to celebrate being named a finalist for “New business of the year” at the prestigious BIBAs awards.

It was a great opportunity to get dressed up, and celebrate everything that Paradigm First Aid is, with my wife and my Mum.

The immense pride in having my company named on that stage, and my logo up in lights is a very emotional feeling.

Even though we didn’t win the award, we have come a long way. Two finalist spots within 12 months is something I will never forget.

One day I will be on that stage as a winner of a category, it’s a matter of time. Paradigm is growing and performing so well in the crowded market that is First Aid training. We are being recognised because we do things differently, with purpose, passion and quality.

We are also moving into other markets, which is exciting news to share with you all. We have now launched Paradigm Education and Training arm to the business where we deliver Train the Trainer and Insights discovery training. With a lot of experience delivering these sessions already, we are excited to get back to delivering impactful corporate training too. 💙

So proud of what has been achieved already, and I am as motivated as ever to make a difference with the Paradigm logo on my chest 💙 💪

"Happy 3rd Birthday to us, Paradigm First Aid Training!" 🎉💙

Today marks three years since Paradigm was born, and I couldn’t be prouder of how far we’ve come.

As business owners, we don’t always take the time to stop and reflect, we’re usually too busy looking ahead to the next milestone. But taking a moment today, I am truly blown away by this journey.

On the 4th September 2023, I vividly remember saying to myself as I registered on Companies House, and to everyone I spoke to about my new venture, "I have a 3 year plan for Paradigm" It was clear to me what I needed to do, yet terrifying in the fact I was taking a risk. I had the backing of my wife, family and close friends which helped me take the leap.

Today, I have reached that date, and happy to celebrate the fact that I have exceeded my own expectations! Paradigm is now established and is setting a gold standard for First aid training.

To every single client, partner, and business that has trusted us with their first aid training over the last three years: "Thank you!" Paradigm simply wouldn’t be here without your ongoing support and belief in what we do. Building these relationships has been the most rewarding part of the job, and I’m so excited to keep working alongside you in Year 4 and beyond! 💙

To cap off this incredible milestone, in two weeks’ time we’ll be attending The BIBAs 2026 Business Awards black-tie event as a finalist for "New Business of the Year". I’m thrilled to be celebrating the night alongside my amazing wife and my mum, taking a moment to sit back, dress up, and celebrate how far Paradigm has come! 🥂✨

Here’s to three incredible years of supporting people to save lives through our training, and to an even bigger, brighter future ahead! Some exciting news is coming, Stay tuned! 🥂

Today we have been up to sunny Penrith to deliver another Emergency first aid course for the amazing team at Euphoric Circus, with special thanks also to Cumbria Youth Alliance for helping to organise the day.

The engagement from this group today was incredible, it’s always refreshing when I get a group like this to teach, with lots of questions and discussions which help contextualise the practical learning.

Today we have utilised the outdoor space when delivering an Emergency first aid course for the team at Tricklebank in Halsall.
