Sadly we have lost another past pupil.
Our condolences go out to his Mother, siblings, nephews , niece, cousins and friends.
May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

The death has taken place September 1st 2026
at his home of David Mullan
7 Shandon Park, Omagh.
Beloved son of Agnes and the late Paddy Mullan,
much loved brother of Fiona (Peter) and Rory (Susan)
and dearly loved uncle of Ava, Matthew, Senan and Nathan.
Reposing at the family home, 22 Woodbrook Village, Omagh BT78 5GY
on Thursday (September 3rd) from 7.30p.m.
Funeral leaving the family home on Saturday (September 5th) at 10a.m.
for Requiem Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, Plumbridge at 11a.m.
Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Deeply regretted by his sorrowing mum, brother, sister,
brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, niece and family circle.
Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.

We regret to inform you that the death has taken place of Kathleen Donaghy née Harkin peacefully at Altnagelvin Hospital surrounded by her loving family on the 19th August 2026, may she rest in peace.

Late of Carrickayne Road, Craigbane, Claudy, Co Derry. ( Formerly Loughash )

Loving mother of John (Catherine) and James. Newly grandmother of Erin. Daughter of the late Rose and Paddy RIP and dear sister of Marie (Peter), John (Alice), Jim (Anne), Brian (Majella), Gerard (Nicola), Charlie (Margaret) Helen (Hugh), Thomas (Deirdre) the late Dolores and Edward RIP.

Reposing at her brother Thomas’s home 3 Loughash Road, Aughabrack, Co Tyrone on Thursday 20th of August 2026. Wake commencing at 2pm.
Family time 10pm to 11am.

A bus will be provided from Loughash Primary School to the wake house nearby.

Funeral on Saturday 22nd of August 2026 leaving her brother’s home at 10.20am for 11am Requiem Mass in St Mary’s Church, Aughabrack.
Interment immediately afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.

I learned yesterday of a past pupil who had passed away about 4 years ago but I hadn't heard at the time and it wasn't put on the page here.
We can only put obituaries up if we're informed. Plus I'm trying to keep an up to date list, to continue on from the list in the book. So if you hear about someone passing and you know they attended 'the Plum ' , please message us. I'd rather get the same message ten times as not get it at all.

Last night I, and many others , attended a function in Aughabrack community hall in honour of Mr. & Mrs. McGill.

It was to honour their dedication and commitment to the community around them.

A beautiful bench was unveiled and blessed to remember them by for generations to come.

Many speeches were made by colleagues of Mrs McGill's and by her brother Colum,. They talked of their dedication to their teaching and of the MLA work carried out by Claire. They spoke of the titles and roles they held in life and about the fine, upstanding people they were.

They were all of that and dedicated to each other.
But I also want to add, that for all their titles and all their roles, it's how much of a mark they left on those they met and taught throughout their lives that really stands out. The hall last night was full and truly could have filled ten times over with people singing their praises.

They are remembered fondly by everyone.
They were kind above all else and cared about everyone.

THAT is their lasting memorial.

May they both rest in eternal peace in the knowledge that they are loved and remembered.

The Last Day of School
The bell rang
as it always had,
not knowing
it was the last time
I would hear it
as a student.

Chairs scraped across floors.
Books disappeared into bags.
Someone laughed too loudly
at a joke already forgotten.

Outside,
the June sun hung over the yard
where footballs bounced
and voices drifted
through warm air.

We thought we were leaving
a building of brick and glass,
nothing more.
A place of timetables,
homework,
and mornings
when we would rather
have been anywhere else.

Yet as we walked the corridors
one final time,
past the history room
with its faded maps,
past the science lab
where dust floated
through shafts of sunlight,
past the classroom windows
that rattled in winter storms,
something felt different.
The place seemed quieter,
as though it were listening.
Noticeboards
curling at the corners.
A forgotten coat
hanging behind a door.
Small things
that had become invisible
through familiarity.

Teachers stood in doorways,
wishing us luck.
Some smiled.
Some looked thoughtful.
Perhaps they had seen
this same afternoon
a hundred times before.

Perhaps they knew
what we did not.
That years later
we would remember
almost none of the lessons
we crammed for examinations,
but would remember instead
the rain striking a classroom window
on a dark November afternoon,
the smell of freshly cut grass
drifting through an open door in May,
the sound of laughter
echoing down an empty corridor,
the friend who sat beside us
and made a difficult year easier.

The gates stood open.
Beyond them
lay colleges,
jobs,
marriages,
children,
losses,
successes,
and lives
not yet imagined.

But for a moment
we lingered.
Looking back.
At the yard.
The windows.
Knowing something was ending,
though not yet understanding
what it meant.

Then one by one
we crossed the road
and disappeared
into the future.

The school remained behind,
holding our voices
within its corridors,
our footsteps
upon its stairs,
our younger selves
forever walking
between one class
and the next.

We believed
we were leaving it behind,
when in truth
it was coming with us
all along.
