On Friday 9 October, Omagh High School's Year 8 football team travelled to Dromore High School to play in the first round of the U12 Boys' Northern Ireland Schools' Cup. Dromore got off to a strong start, creating a few chances, but it was Omagh High who took the lead through a well-taken goal from Josh L. Both teams then settled into the game, and Dromore were rewarded with an equaliser just before half-time. In the second half, both teams once again traded chances, and it was Dromore who took the lead to make it 2-1 in their favour. However, OHS kept battling and brought the score level with a second goal from Joshua B. It looked as though the game was heading for extra time, but with the last kick of the match, Theo Mc struck a long-range free-kick high over the Dromore goalkeeper's head to win the game for Omagh High and send the team through to the next round of the cup. Well done, boys, and thank you to Dromore High School for an enjoyable and competitive game.

Final Score: 0-0

Our Senior Girls earned their first league point of the season with a hardworking and disciplined performance against Foyle College on Tuesday 6th October.

There were clear signs of progress throughout the team, with improved structure, communication and teamwork evident across the pitch. Both sides enjoyed spells of possession and created chances during a closely contested match. Crown Jesus Ministries Visit

Omagh High School’s Religious Studies Department was delighted to welcome Crown Jesus Ministries to Omagh High School, where they spoke to pupils about how each of us is valued, unique and wonderfully made.

Throughout the day, pupils from a range of year groups took part in engaging and thought-provoking sessions, with plenty of opportunities for discussion and reflection.

We are delighted that Crown Jesus Ministries will continue to be involved in school over the coming weeks through our SUs, as well as delivering a number of workshops later in October as part of the 2026 Hope Tyrone campaign.

A huge thank you to the team for giving their time to work with our pupils and for such an enjoyable and worthwhile day! πŸŒŸπŸ‘

πŸ†βš½ McKee Cup Match Report

Omagh High School secured a dramatic 3–2 victory over Fivemiletown College in an entertaining McKee Cup encounter that could have gone either way.

The opening half was closely contested, with both sides creating opportunities in a competitive battle. Omagh broke the deadlock through Daniel O, who finished confidently to give his side a deserved lead. However, Fivemiletown responded well and equalised with the final kick of the first half to send the teams in level at the break.

Omagh started the second half brightly and quickly restored their advantage when Jack J found the net shortly after the restart. Once again, Fivemiletown showed great character and continued to fight their way back into the match. Their persistence paid off when they grabbed what appeared to be an injury-time equaliser.

Despite the setback, Omagh were determined to find a winner and produced one final attack with time running out. Excellent work from Thomas H saw him drive into the area before cutting the ball back into a dangerous area, causing confusion in the Fivemiletown defence. Tyler H reacted quickest to ensure the ball crossed the line and claim a dramatic late winner.

The squad will now turn their attention to their next fixture against Drumragh College on 22nd October.
