Athletics for Children with Autism. A Cross-Border Programme for Donegal and Northern Ireland.
At Finn Valley AC, our Athletics for Children with Autism programme, led by coach Ann Slevin, gives children a relaxed, supportive space to run, jump and throw at their own pace. It's about confidence, friendship and fun, not competition.
We now want to grow this into a cross-border programme for children and families across Donegal and Northern Ireland. It can only go ahead with interest from both sides of the border, so we especially need to hear from families and volunteers in Northern Ireland as well as Donegal.
The sessions would be properly supervised by experienced, Garda vetted supervisors and volunteers, while parents relax upstairs with tea and refreshments.
We're just gauging interest at this stage, no commitment. We'd love to hear from:
Parents or guardians of an autistic child who'd like to take part.
Anyone who'd like to volunteer.
Anyone with relevant experience, such as SNAs, who'd like to help support the sessions.
