Last Friday we celebrated our Preschool leavers with their graduation party ☺️ Bouncy Castle, Party Games, Balloons and lots of fun (maybe with a few tears thrown in too 😢)
Class of 2023 you’ve had a fantastic year and we know that those of you who are leaving to join Reception will be a credit to your new schools! We hope you all have a lovely summer and we look forward to welcoming back our nursery children in September ❤️

You may be aware that from next year the government are extending the ‘free hours offer’ to parents of children as young as 9 months old as well as the current two year funding to more families.
Part of our work with Early Years Alliance allow us to gather important views on these plans and how they will effect not just us as settings but also you as parents/carers!
If you have a few minutes spare we would really appreciate it if you could have a look at the survey below and give Early Years Alliance your views!
If you aren’t sure what the new plans are please feel free to drop us a message and we will gladly help with any questions ☺️

In preschool our topic is under the sea. We've enjoyed using our fine motor skills to draw our own starfish and used Cheerios to represent their appearance. Mo and Morgan made one for us to look at and we've watched some educational videos showing where they live and how they move to help us create our own😀

Thinking of all our families as the primary school places for this September are released tomorrow! We have our Oldham and Ashton feeder school uniforms washed and ready for the home corner ( to be honest we’ve lost count of the number of schools we actually have uniforms for 😂) and transition plans in place ready to support the children moving to school…..here’s hoping you all get your first choice 🤞🏻

Post pandemic there has been a significant increase in the number of children who require additional support for their speech and language and naturally the waiting lists for specialist support is extremely high.
On Wednesday evening we welcomed the ‘Better Communication Team’ from Oldham who delivered staff training for the whole team, focused around the Wellcomm screening tool.
Wellcomm assessments allow us to determine what level children are at with their speech and language development and plan appropriate interventions for them to help close any gaps in learning.
We are extremely proud of our work with the Better Communication Team and are thrilled that all of our practitioners are now trained in Wellcomm to support all children who attend our setting!

Peer Observations are an integral part of our practitioners learning and allows us to assess their practice and ensure that it meets the high standards we expect.
Here our practitioner Mo decided to chose an activity for his peer observation focused on Oral Hygiene, in line with the supervised toothbrushing scheme we follow in our setting.
Mo asked the children to make their ‘teeth’ as dirty as they could and talked about the germs our teeth pick up during the day. He talked to the children about how many times a day we should brush our teeth and for how long. The children then had 2 minutes to use their toothbrushes and make their teeth nice and clean again!
Fantastic work! ☺️

Hours of fun creating our own obstacles to get over!
The children enjoyed using their problem solving skills to work out how they were going to get across the tyres safely. We talked about using our arms to help our balance as we walked slowly across the planks ☺️
