Happy Earth day π

We had a lovely morning visit to Strinesdale reservoir today. The children loved feeding the duck (yes only one duck was there).
They enjoyed talking about the reservoir and asking lots of questions π

Happy Easter π° π£
20/03/2026
Yesterday we spent the morning discussing Oral health and why it is important to brush our teeth. We used our tooth brushes to clean the teeth and looked at the different problems underneath.
We talked about why eating healthy foods is also important and limiting sugar treats to meal times.
Then of course we had our lunch alfresco π

We had a belated world book day to day due to a few children being off poorly on the actual day.
We had lots of fun sharing our books and talking about what we enjoyed about them.
We used our magnetic blocks to make Elmer colourful again and discussed how it is ok to be different than everyone else. We then had a tea party with our naughty Tiger, luckily this one didn't eat all our food like the cheeky Tiger in the book π

Bugs, bugs, bugs πͺ²π
Today we spent the morning exploring a bug themed sensory tray, encouraging children to explore the natural world through hands-on investigations. We dug, scooped, sorted and examined the insects and natural materials.
This helps developing fine motor skills, developing langauge skills as the children describe what they see and discover. Turn taking, sharing and working together are also other areas of development supported in activites such as this.

Last week we did some mark making. We scribbled, drew lines and patterns. This helps with developing childrens fine motor skills, hand eye coordination, and strengthens the muscles needed for later writing. It can also support childrens language development as children can talk about what they have created. Using a variety of tools and textures, and cognitive skills such as problem solving, early maths (shapes, patterns, direction), and understanding cause and effect.
