🌱Who are we?
Firstly, thankyou for looking at my page.
My name is Charlotte and I am the Owner of Little Acorns Childminding Service.
I live in a loving home with my Son Joshua who is Neurodiverse and the heartbeat of our home, we live with our pets on the edge of The Clough in Moorside, meaning just beyond my garden. We are surrounded by the beautiful acres of moorland close to Higher Fullwood reserve.
🌱What will little Acorns look like?
I am currently in the process of renovating my home to allow the Children who will attend my setting the space to explore, create, and develop. The children will have a sun room specifically developed to create a safe nurturing environment for them during their time here. Extending onto a large patio and grass area where they will be able to use the space to develop core physical skills. They will have access to the cosy living room for a cuddle and a chance to regulate and access to the dining room/kitchen where we will make lots of portions, meals and mess! I plan on using the reserve as a play space and have spoken to some of the residents at the allotments who have welcomed the idea of having children growing amd learning locally 😀
🌱What experience do you have working with children?
I have over twenty years experience working with young children and their families, gaining many qualifications along the way enabling me to provide an holistic approach to learning using open ended natural play resources to extend language skills, physical opportunities and to develop children's natural curiosity as they embark on their journey through childhood providing them with the core skills they need to navigate School and provide life skills. On top of my career in a Primary school where i currently work. I am working through Government training on delivering the EYFS. I intend on on completing the Level 3 Childminding course, I will be be registering with Ofsted on completion on the Sun room. Keep an eye on my page for progress updates 😊
🌱What drives you as a practitioner?
I am passionate about children learning at their own pace and developing the key social and emotional skills to navigate the world, I endeavour to deliver a robust curriculum using Birth to Five matters, EYFS, The Curiosity Approach, HYGGE approaches, using knowledge and skills from the SEND code of practice and alternative proffesionals advice. Childhood theory, Occupational therapists, Educational Psychologist, Speech and Language therapists, to provide the best inclusive learning opportunities for your children. Ensuring each child is seen as an individual and their needs are met.
🌱When are you planning on opening?
I have allocated myself a two year time slot to ensure my provision is to my high standards of Provision and practice are in place before welcoming families to my setting.
As soon as I have registered with Ofsted I will be holding open days for you to explore with your little ones.
🌱Why are you setting up on your own?
It's no shock to anyone after the pandemic the state of the UK. I love my job however have found that there are far to many hurdles to jump over in Education, to ensure quality teaching staff are able to meet the needs of all children and utilise their invaluable skills and passion for children's learning amd development. This has always been a dream of mine to have my own business where I can fully exercise my knowledge and experience and create wonderful small resilient humans ready to face the world.
Children aren't numbers or Data. They are unique wonderful creations and have the ability to to make the world a better place. 😊
