Please see below information from Best Start Family Hubs linked to bedtime routines.

Bedtime routines don't have to be a nightmare 💤

Now your kids are back at school, it's really important for them to get a good night's sleep. Our Parenting Support team are running a free two-hour discussion group next week all about bedtime routines, especially for parents and carers of children aged 2 to 9.
It's a chance for parents to talk about typical situations they may experience at home, and learn skills that they can use to manage these situations more positively 😊

On Friday 9th October, Woodlands will be celebrating World Mental Health Day by supporting Young Minds' ‘Hello Yellow’ day.

Children are invited to come to school in non-uniform wearing yellow or an item of clothing or an accessory that ‘Makes them happy!’. If your child does not wish to wear yellow, then non-uniform is fine. We are not asking for donations in school, but if you would like to donate, please search ‘Young Minds – Make a donation’ online to donate directly to the JustGiving page.

In class, the children will spend some time in the afternoon completing a range of ‘Hello Yellow’ activities, for example, gratitude journals, mindful art, guided breathing or emotion poems.

Returning to school after a break can be a significant adjustment for children and young people, particularly when routines, concentration and social confidence need time to rebuild.

Our latest guide supports families, carers and education professionals with practical ways to make the transition smoother.

The guide explores:
• Restoring sleep and morning routines gradually
• Creating predictability through clear expectations
• Preparing school essentials in advance
• Encouraging responsibility in age-appropriate ways
• Supporting healthy nutrition, wellbeing and self-regulation
• Reconnecting with learning, friendships and familiar routines

With expert insight from Adam Gillett, Associate Vice Principal for Personal Development at Pen*stone Grammar School, this resource offers supportive ideas to help children return to school feeling more confident and prepared.

Year 3 had a wonderful DT day last week focusing on seasonal eating. They designed their own sweet or savoury puff pastry tarts using seasonal ingredients. They created an ingredients list and wrote recipes before preparing and making their puff pastry tarts. What a super job, well done Year 3!
