ONCE UPON A STAGE
with Miss Lindsey & The Elm Arts Company

Our Bluebell children (2 - 3s) had the absolutely best time with Miss Lindsey.

Their first session of 'Once upon a stage'.

The children are learning to use their voices, celebrate each other and themselves, they are building confidence, whilst having lots of fun 🎉💚🎉

We are extremely privileged to have Miss Lindsey working with our children.

Elm Arts Company is a local triple threat drama / dance / singing company, who provide classes for children aged 2 - 18. Their homegrown talent (and many Buttercup alumini) can be frequently seen on stage, TV screen and cinema.
What an opportunity for our little superstars 🎉🎉🎉

At school, children learn how to stay safe online. But online privacy is a life skill that you can also talk about it at home.

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has launched Switched on to privacy - a free campaign to help parents and carers of 4–11‑year‑olds talk about what personal information children share online.

It’s built around three simple steps: Chat, Choose, Check.

🌸Blossoms - Sing and Sign Enhanced Educare 🎶🌸

The children had a wonderful time during our Sing and Sign Enhanced Educare session with Vanessa Sing and Sign - Rochdale/Oldham
They were excited to get their hands ready for signing, wiggling their fingers, clapping, hiding their hands and shaking them as we sang our favourite “Time to Sing, Time to Sign” song.🙌🙌

This week’s theme was Bedtime, and the children enjoyed learning and practising our key bedtime signs:🛌

- Change your nappy🌸
- Brush your teeth🌸
- Turn out the light🌸
- A kiss goodnight🌸

The children also enjoyed learning some new animal signs, including bird, butterfly, snail, bee and spider. They joined in confidently and were eager to copy Vanessa’s movements.🪞👏

We also had lots of fun with our emotion signing. 😊☹️😴
The children are becoming super confident with their emotion signs and were able to sign tired, happy, sad and angry while joining in with our emotion song. It was fantastic to see how confidently they remembered the signs!

Next came instrument time. 🥁🪇🪇
The children remembered the sign they needed to use to ask Vanessa to open the instrument bag, showing great recall and communication skills. They explored making music by shaking their instruments fast, slow, loudly and quietly, before practising their signs alongside “The Music Man.”

Then came our favourite time — Jessy time! 😸😸 The children loved singing “Where Is Jessy?” and playing peekaboo with Jessy. There were lots of smiles and excitement as Jessy appeared, followed by plenty of lovely Jessy cuddles!

We then enjoyed our interactive rhyming signing time. The children had great fun holding different interactive props and joining in with a rhyme to match each one. Today we had a teddy bear, a dolly, a star and bubbles from Vanessa’s wonderful giraffe bubble machine. 🫧

To finish our session, the children excitedly popped the bubbles while singing “In a While, Crocodile” with Vanessa. There was lots of laughter, singing and signing throughout the session.🐊

The children were fantastic throughout and showed growing confidence in their signing, communication, listening and musical skills. We can’t wait for our next session — Vanessa told us that we are super signers! 🌟🎶

A huge well done to Katie, our fantastic Level 3 Apprentice, who has received a well-deserved staff shout-out today! 🌟👏🏽

Katie has been recognised for her lovely interactions with the children in our Sunflower Room 🌻💛.
She consistently takes the time to get down to the children’s level, listen to them, engage in their play and build those important, trusting relationships.

It’s wonderful to see Katie growing in confidence and developing her skills as an Early Years Educator. Her kindness, patience and genuine enthusiasm for supporting the children really shine through in her practice. 🥰

We are so proud of the progress you are making, Katie, and we love seeing the positive impact you are having on the children every day! 🌟

🌿 Forest School Adventures at Hulme Grammar Prep School

Our first Forest School session at Hulme Grammar was all about getting to know our new environment and beginning our outdoor learning adventure! 🌳🦋

The children enjoyed an introduction to the Forest School environment, meeting Mr McCarthy, who will be supporting our Forest School sessions, and learning about the amazing outdoor spaces available for us to explore.

🔎 We took part in a Star Hunt, encouraging the children to look closely, explore their surroundings and discover what was hiding around us. ⭐

The children had lots of opportunities to explore, investigate, problem-solve and build confidence as they navigated this exciting new environment.

There was plenty of curiosity, excitement and lots of happy little explorers! 🌿💚

We can't wait to see where our Forest School adventures take us next! 🌳✨
