What young people gain:
💬 Stronger communication & teamwork skills
🧠 Problem-solving, literacy, numeracy & ICT confidence

☀️ Enjoying the warm weather? We want all our young people to stay safe.

Before lighting a BBQ or starting a fire - especially in the countryside - stop and think. Fires can spread fast and have devastating effects on our green spaces. 🌳🔥

⚽️ Sport is more than a game, it’s a pathway to positive change 🏏

For many pupils, mainstream education reaches a point where it no longer fits. That’s where a calm, structured and predictable environment makes all the difference.

At Chances Mentoring, we combine structured mentoring with Secondary Alternative Provision to help young people:
🔹 Rebuild self-confidence and resilience
🔹 Take responsibility for their choices
🔹 Improve attendance and classroom behaviour
🔹 Develop habits that get them back on track for learning

When pupils feel supported, real progress happens. 💪✨

⚠️ Do you know what your young person is up to during the school holidays when they’re out with their friends?

😔 In 2025, 202 people accidentally drowned.

Please speak with them about the dangers of open water – it could save their life ❤

🏫 Not every child fits mainstream school. That does not mean they cannot do well.

ℹ️ We are a specialist school in Oldham, strong on inclusion and registered with the Department for Education. We teach primary and secondary pupils across Greater Manchester who need a different approach to learning.

In March this year, we were inspected by Ofsted, who stated:

"Staff are skilled at making pupils feel welcome and feel secure. The relationships that pupils have with staff ensure that they have positive attitudes towards their education."

🙌 Small groups, calm rooms, staff who take the time to know every child by name.

5️⃣ highlights from our Ofsted report

Back in March, Ofsted inspected our school and awarded us with a ‘Strong Standard’ for inclusion in our first ever inspection!

🙌 Inspectors rated our school at the ‘Expected Standard’ for achievement, behaviour and leadership, while confirming safeguarding requirements were met.

Here are 5 highlights from the report:

1️⃣ Leaders address gaps in pupils’ learning and ensure that teaching enables them to progress well through the intended curriculum. This is consistent across year groups and key stages.
2️⃣Pupils behave well across the school. Leaders have created an orderly environment that encourages pupils to be calm and respectful of others.
3️⃣Each pupil's individual character is nurtured well. Through activities such as charity work, visits to places of interest and engagement with visitors to the school, pupils gain a positive understanding of what it means to contribute to society.
4️⃣Pupils are well prepared socially, academically and in their personal development for their next steps in education, employment or training. For example, in the vocational subjects of construction and hair and beauty, pupils learn about the workplace.
5️⃣Pupils behave well across the school. Leaders have created an orderly environment that encourages pupils to be calm and respectful of others.
