We had lots of fun,play and learning over this year.

Wishing our families a Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year

Pumpkins,pumpkins everywhere!!!!
We have set up a counting activity to support children with discovering that numerals represent how many objects there are in a group .
We will be looking at the numbers 1 to 5 - looking at both adding one more to make a larger number and subtracting one less to make a small number.
We have both our 5 little pumpkins story and song to use in our play .
We will be using our dice to take turns rolling ,counting the dots and picking the pumpkins to match the number .

Really excited to share our new story with the children and use the props to retell the story .
I wonder if we will find a pumpkin ?

Matthew has worked very hard to make the small world an inviting area for the children to discover all the wonderful things Autumn has to offer.
Our small world area has lots of opportunities for the children to explore Autumn and animals .
There are sensory bottles filled with natural and man made autumn treasures .
Our Autumn village captures the very essence of autumn colours and textures .We will be adding to our tray as the children explore it and bring in their own Autumn treasures .
We have put in a selection of different animals in our new crates and can’t wait to see how our children play with them .
We will adding a basket of Non fiction books about animals for the children and staff to read and discover new information.

Our Small world area and our interest table .
We have been exploring our feelings during September.
We have been reading the Colour monster and talking about our emotions. We have been helping the Colour monster to sort out his mixed up emotions and put them into the correct emotion bottles .

Our Cosy book area .We love to sit and read stories with the Grufflo’s child and tiger.We sing nursery rhymes using our puppets and song spoons.
We explore our musical instruments learning how to use them , play them loud , softly and follow a rhythm.
The Owl babies and their parents have moved into the book corner and we are enjoying retelling the story.

Our Indoor environment-
Children have lots of opportunities to discover,play and learn .
The staff team plan the environment using their knowledge of the children’s interests and development.

We currently have spaces available at Pre-school for 2,3&4 year olds .

Our Fantastic bug house the children and our student Willow made today .Willow planned the activity following the children's ongoing interest in insects .She made sure there was a selection of natural and man made materials for the children to explore and use to make the bug house .
She used photographs to give the children visual examples of different bug houses and how they could use the materials .She made sure the play and learning was open to all ages of our children and introduced new language as they made the house together. The children were really engaged in their designing of the bug house .
The children selected and placed the items where they liked inside and on the bug house .They painted the bug house and some painted their hands to make hand prints on the roof .
We are excited to see who will move into our bug house !!!

Our Caterpillars have arrived at Pre-school and we are watching them eat the food and growing bigger and bigger .
Yesterday they joined the children and listened to one of our favourite stories the hungry caterpillar 🐛.
We talked about the difference between our Caterpillar and the Caterpillar we found before half term .The garden caterpillar was Shorter , Green and lots of spike , the children told us .
Today they have been climbing to the top of the jar in preparation to make their cocoons.
Tomorrow our student Willow will be making a bug hotel with our children , following their interests in insects and caring for them .
