🍉🫐Homemade Fruit Ice Lollies🫐🍉
✨The children in Rising's have been making their own fruity Ice Lollies!
✨They each chose which fruit they would like in their lollies, and carefully chopped it up with a knife. This supported our Motivated Movers in their understanding of risk management and how to be Independent Individuals using the knives themselves.
✨The children then poured water in to the lolly moulds and put the ice lollies into the freezer.
The Fruit Lollies were a lovely treat in the warm weather. ☀

💚✨🧡Supporting Our Local Community🧡✨💚
💚Some of our Preschool children went on a Local Outing to the Supermarket. We had recently done some fundraising to support our Local Food Banks and we needed to buy the food to donate.
✨We discussed this with the children and helped them understand how we would be supporting other children and families.
🗨One child said "that will make people happy".
💚On the walk to the Supermarket, we spoke about road safety and how to cross carefully. The children were able to confidently explain how we wait for 'no cars' before we cross the road. We took it in turns to press the button on the traffic lights and cheered when we saw the green man before crossing.
✨We also saw a new crossing and learnt how a 'zebra crossing' works. One child spoke to her friends about this also being called a 'pedestrian crossing' and how to use them.
💚On the walk we saw lots of different shops and buildings and learnt new words such as 'florist' and 'barbers'. The children shared stories from their home lives such as 'I get a drink in Alora' and 'that's where we post our cards'.
💚In the supermarket the children helped put the coin in the trolley and pushed it around together. We picked different foods we thought people would like. As we did so, the children commented if the food items were heavy, light, big or small. We would count up how many of each item we would need and load them into the trolley, such as '1 tin of beans' or '3 boxes of cereal'.
✨When we got to the baby and toddler aisle, the children thought it would be a good idea to get some things for babies too. They chose some baby food pouches and a pack of nappies.
💚At the till, the children helped load up the conveyor belt with the items we had bought. They handed the money to the cashier and said a big thank you when she gave us the receipt.
💚The children then helped put all the food we had bought in the food bank donation box.
🗨One child said 'I think the people will be happy with all that food'. They then asked how the food gets to the people's houses, which we discussed on the way back to nursery.

🌟Let's Make Playdough! 🌟
🌟Playdough is a staple material here at The Village Nursery! It is such a versatile material that can utilised in a wide range of activities to support Early Development.
🌟Sensory and Emotional regulation can be supported through the physical act of squishing dough, as it provides a grounding feeling, which helps reduces anxiety and improve focus.
🌟Actions such as kneading and rolling the dough, is great for developing motor skills and building the tiny muscles in the hands and fingers, preparing children for future tasks such as using scissors.
🌟While engaging in the making and use of playdough, narrating play or describing textures can help build vocabulary and conversational skills.
