A lovely play set-up today to support our learning all about nocturnal animals! 🦉🌙

We’ve added factual books and stories, along with our soft nocturnal animals for the children to explore. 📚🦊🦔

As always, the children are learning through play, following their own interests as they discover more about the fascinating animals that come alive at night! 🌙

🛒 Our Shopping Trip!

We all went shopping to find pumpkins and hay for our pumpkin patch!

The children loved helping to choose the pumpkins and add them to the trolley. We then headed to the pet shop to find our bales of hay, where we also enjoyed having a look at some of the lovely animals while we were there! 🐰🐹🐠

We had lots of fun choosing everything we needed, and you can see the finished pumpkin patch we created in our previous post! 🎃🧡

🎃🍂 Our Pumpkin Patch is ready! 🍂🎃

Today we’ve been busy setting up our very own pumpkin patch in the garden, complete with pumpkins to buy and sell, scales for weighing and lots of opportunities to explore heavy and light. 🎃⚖️

We’ve added wheelbarrows too, as the children love transporting things around the garden!
And of course, we’ve included some of our favourite autumnal stories to enjoy in our cosy pumpkin patch area. 📚🍂

As September comes to an end, here’s a little look at some of the activities and experiences we’ve enjoyed this month! ❤️

The photos we share each day, capture what we’ve been enjoying at that particular time, but this doesn’t mean an activity is available for just one day. Many of our activities remain out for weeks or even longer, giving the children plenty of opportunities to revisit, repeat and extend their play. We may add to them, move them around or adapt them as the children’s interests develop.

We also plan in-the-moment activities in response to the children’s interests, ideas and questions, creating new experiences 😍

Here’s a little peek at our September adventures — from autumn and nature to colours, feelings, dinosaurs and farming. Cooking, creativity, stories and lots more! 🍂🧡

We had lots of excitement opening conker cases to discover the conkers hiding inside! The children used hammers and spoons to carefully crack open the cases, and they found the whole process fascinating.

A lovely hands-on way to explore nature, develop coordination and discover what’s hiding inside! 🍁

🌕Exploring the Harvest Moon

With the Harvest Moon this weekend, we’ve been learning all about the changes we see as summer turns into autumn.

The children made their own moons from dough, rolling, shaping and creating while we talked about the moon and the night sky.

This links beautifully with our recent learning about growing vegetables and the Harvest festival 🥕🌾

🥕 From Garden to Bowl! 🧡

Today we’ve been learning all about carrots, where they come from, how they grow and how we can cook them.
The children dug up carrots in our garden and used them in our outdoor kitchen to make carrot and coriander soup. 🥕🌿

Indoors, our cooking club got busy chopping carrots, and everyone helped make a delicious homemade soup for lunch. 🧡

Some of our children have shown a real interest in dinosaurs, so we set up this amazing Dino Land in our sand and water trays! 🦖💦

We’ve had so much fun mixing, tipping, pouring and giving the dinosaurs a shower! 🥰

Lots of opportunities for imaginative play, while developing our fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, communication and understanding of cause and effect through exploring the sand and water. 🌿🦕

We have been learning all about farms! 🚜🌱

We explored the vegetables that grow on farms and set up this fun play tray for the children to dig up the hidden vegetables. 🥕🥔

The activity encouraged lots of conversation and supported their language, fine motor skills, curiosity and understanding of how our food grows 🧡
